I starting to plan out my next run that I would like to do in a few weeks. I'm thinking about starting out in Greenville and traveling across the Golden road into Millinocket.

@Explore Maine - been thinking about the Golden Road and wondering what it's like these days. Was up there once long time ago, in the 70's and not long after they quit the river drives and built the road, and ran across this article and news piece from a couple years ago.

Did you end up doing it last year at all?

In regards to your other post, about Eustis to Jackman, I came down from Sept-Iles Quebec through the border crossing near Sandy Bay Township one time, then through Jackman and on to Portland. Was the depth of winter and a good part of it from the border through Jackman and on down 201 was midnight logging trucks. I had to haul a crane part up to a mine outside of Sept-Iles, from Kentucky, I think it was. Long damned trip and I loved every minute of it.

Anyway, you can bet I'll be out running some of these roads this summer when I'm in the state. If you know of a good camping spot or two we can go explore from, I'll bring my trailer and we can set up a base camp for a couple days if you like.

I was on the Golden Road a couple of years ago I haven't been back up there since but the roads were well maintained. I plan on doing a pre trip of this run in June and will have more info about camping spots and road conditions.

How far along the coast are you planning, and is this a one day trip? Can't do much on the 12th myself, as that's graduation day for my kid, but if I don't head west, I may be able to join up for part if you're heading up the coast and camping too.

We will be starting out in Kittery and heading up north until we get done with the seeing bug light in South Portland then we will be camping at the Desert of Maine in Freeport the next morning we will leaving at 9am and heading out to see the Doubling light, Squirrel point light and the Pond island lighthouse two of these stops involve hiking that's why on the second we will only get to see the three + a fort

Nice vids and pics. I headed your way in mid July. Unfortunately my rig will stay in the driveway. Gonna do the touristy thing with the wife. I'll have to plan a return with the gear.
