For the X look for Duck's build thread on TNX. I think he's a stormchaser or something and has a bomb spot.

build thread

Unfortunately it looks like the link to his spot is dead.

The golights have a clamp to plate system also, its how they clamp their mag mounts. I'm sure you could fab a bracket and hose clamps for the X rack

Not gonna lie I like the light bars. Ill never need something like that but still think they're cool. I like the light you posted though, could mount it on my roof rack

Yeah, but that is mounting it right to the middle of the roof box lid. It's not the most secure spot to put it and would make it hard to actually get into the box to get my gear. I bet that XTerra is for a local news program, my local station has a similar rig for getting out and covering severe weather events or just capturing stock footage of accidents and things like that where a live uplink isn't needed. I'd bet the only time that lid was opened was to bolt the light to it.

The model I ordered is actually backordered, and I needed the $$$ for other projects, scrapped the idea for now...

That sucks I was curious how it would work out. I can see the use for something like this on a rescue rig. For normal street driving I just see another thing that will break. I also like a light bar on an offroad vehicle. But just one. I do not like seeing 2, 3, 4 or more of them. Actually have a Dodge driving around with 2 light bars stacked on top of each other, on the roof AND on the bumper, that's 4 bars.... around here.

I personally do not even like a roof and bumper mounted light bar. Just something about it. I went with a 40" E2 combo on the Gobi and a pair of Rigid Q2 combos on the bumper. Really a fan of the Q2, very unique and being the bumper light, they are plenty bright with no glare other than off the road surface, so I have some amber covers I keep in the truck. I use the Q2's a lot, the light bar not so much.

But the lights post are just LED cube on a motor. Not really old school. But innovative, again, curious how people use them over the next little while.
