So as everyone started to see the vaccines as light at the end of the covid tunnel and started to look at longer overland travel here we are once again witnessing a new strain, Omicron, that is beating vaccines and once again leading to closed borders and tighter restrictions.

Here in Europe pre travel testing, quarantines and further testing are being put in place whether you are double vaccinated or not . Morocco has closed its borders with other countries preparing to follow suit and as this new variant continues to take hold the future looks more restricted and overland travel once again becomes difficult or impossible. Bleating about how unfair it all is is won’t change the things so for the time being we need to find out adventures closer to home.

So we can all sit back watch YouTube videos and dream of future overland trips or like ourselves you can use this as an opportunity to explore your backyard on smaller trips. And this is what we have been doing for the past year exploring more and more of Scotland and it’s been a true eye opener with stunning scenery and rich history.

In general we feel we have two options to use the time constructively! You can see the current situation as a reason to sit at home plan and upgrade your vehicles or you can use it as a chance to explore more of your local area, visit places often missed in the race to visit the likes of Morocco or more exotic destinations.

Remember Adventure Is Necessary and that can still happen locally and hopefully we will see you out there somewhere.

EDIT: Just to be clear this is not a post about the pro and cons of vaccines or how well or not our leaders have dealt with the Coronavirus. This post is about seeing the opportunities in the current situation so please do not comment if you are looking to politicize this thread

I would love to ship my rig over and do some exploring but all I hear is that there is no place you can pull off and camp overnight.

Differing rules in different countries within the EU. Certainly in the UK is is not strictly "Legal" however it is accepted if you arrive late and depart early.
The highway code does not allow camping at the side of the road and driving off the road onto private land without permission is trespassing.

Wild Camping is allowed in Scotland as part of the right to roam but does not stretch to vehicle based wild camping.
However campsites are everywhere with varying degrees of comfort with 4x4 almost wild camps to full on luxury glamping.
