Dispersed Camping on The Kern River

Im new to this site and hoping to find some luck here for recommendations on dispersed camping on the Kern River. Or on any creeks or smaller rivers in that area.

All your dispersed camping near the KERN will be at least a mile or two from the river (at least as far as I know...)
KERN is very popular in the summer so every inch of it is "taken" by day use areas or large campgrounds with up to 100 sites.
