Death Valley

  • Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.

Hi there! Hope everyone’s doing awesome! I just have a question. Planning on a trip to Death Valley California tomorrow 1/18/19. Just wondering if it gets really muddy and dangerous. At night does it get really windy too? Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks.

I’ve only been there when it’s been really hot lol. At night it definitely cools down drastically. I never experienced high winds, or rain, but I’ve only been there twice.

Mud depends on rain, and it doesn’t rain often. However if it does rain stay clear of valleys, washes, and ravines. There isn’t much vegetation so soil will move with heavy rains. I went on a 6 day trip and 2 of the nights it was very windy. One night the gusts were trying to close up my roof top tent. Definitely bring ear plugs
