Leaving in a week for Stony Pass, Ouray and Rim Rocker. Trying to find up to date fire restriction info, primarily for dispersed camping. Anyone have a resource that is up to date? I found this, but most of the posts don't have dates. Ouray County is restriction free, but San Juan is not?

I was just there, no open fires. Stage 1. I brought along a small portable fire ring as seen. Spoke to "Cricket" of the Forest Service and she had not seen one before. She kindly took pictures and spoke to the Fire Captain in Ouray who said it was just fine as it had a shut off valve. Also spoke to a 20 year Commissioner of Silverton who said the same. She did include a notice of rules in her text back to me. PM me and I can text them to you but will also try to post them here.

So stove and skottle are OK

I would say NO open fires period. Read the exception paragraph, that is why I brought along the little guy I did as it COULD be used anywhere.

Norwood and Ouray Ranger Districts 970 -327-4261 Close at 5 I think.

Hope this helps.

I'm actually looking into changing our route to something I had not seen ebfore. Running Rim Rocker to Nucla, heading north on 141 to Gateway and then west onto a road west through Dinosaur Track Site and Bull Canyon Overlook and then into Castle Canyon SE of Arches. Found a cool glamping campground there to rest up after 5 days on the trail.

There are overlapping fire restrictions. Each County and Forrest have their restrictions, but our Socialist Colorado Governor put up a statewide ban on all open fires.
