Would you mind providing a link to the regulator? Any additional details that come to mind would be appreciated.

I'm in the process right now of setting up a couple LifePO4 batteries and will be running a diesel heater from it.
Aything on Amazon that provides a constant 12.4 volts and can handle 20A will work fine. I no longer have that particular setup. I now use a 2k heater for my trailer, and it doesn't have that problem anymore.

Are there any brands that are recommended over others on these heaters?

here is a link for a Vevor brand unit that is $90
Vevor is a company out of china that sells all sorts of stuff and seems to be decent quality. i am seeing all kinds of things sold by Vevor, like vacuum sealers, stainless steel tables for kitchen, all sorts of tools, etc

i bought some of their stuff and it is good quality. except for an expensive german brand, every diesel heater i know is made in china and they are all pretty similar in quality and price. i bought a Vacmaster vacuum sealer for $1000 and Vevor has a similar one for $400...Vevor is going to have tools like harbor freight, really good for the price, but not as good as a top quality brand. i wouldnt hesitate getting this unit if you are interested in a heater

Can I leave this thing outside my tent and run a hose inside? How loud is it running? I'm thinking I would only need it on low...?

Has anyone found some cheap 3" insulation to cover the output pipe. I have mine towards the front of the Jeep for noise reasons and need to insulate the output pipe.
Exhaust wrap on amazon. Its a fiberglass wrap and it works well. Wear gloves or you will be itching all night. Ask me how I know!!

I just finished installing the Vevor 8kw heater in my truck. When I tested it, it was not as noisy as I was expecting. Since the fuel pump is mounted on the frame rail, it is hardly noticeable. If you want a video of the heater running, let me know.
Lets say that this heater is oversized for my needs. I ran it for an hour on high and it reached 112 degrees in the cap area. The exhaust did get hot but the wrap kept it relatively less hot. 150 degrees if memory serves me well. The fresh air hose that came with the unit is terrible. Paper wrapped foil. I replaced it with a 24" aluminum pipe. (Amazon.com)

Over all I learned that I should had gone with the 2kw :-( and the pump definitely needs to be at a slight angle to operate.

I saw this tire step in a video with the heater sitting on it so I bought it because its cool and has helped me work on my engine and bed area. Now I use it so often I couldn't imagine not having it.
