Hi
We’re going fishing in Rocky Mountain National Park In a couple of weeks and are looking for some scenic dispersed camping spots near the park. I don’t want to stay in a campground in the park. Would rather get away from all the people. From what I remember there isn’t a lot of public access that’s not right on the highway. Would love some ideas.

It has been years but there used to be a few spots off of Pole Hill Road on the way up to Panorama Peak. Soul shine Rd also used to have a few nice spots. Looking at Google Maps I think (40.385397, -105.404787) was one of the sites on Soul Shine we used to camp at. Been a lot of building at the ends of both of these roads so they may be cut off or private these days.

For boonedocking I generally find better luck these days off of Hwy 14 north of the park. Some gold metal waters up there as well. Other options on FR 455 West of Grand lake

Pole hill is kind of a pain in the ass these days with a locked gate. @old_man might know a better area but the estes park area this time of year is crazy busy. And not really alot of public land around there to really say hey try this.

Here's a nice little resource for MVUM maps for CO camping. The Canyon Lakes South map has the Estes area in it.

We were up at the Bunce School Rd a couple weekends ago. Some nice spots but a lot of ATV and shooting noise going on.
I second the Poudre Canyon area myself. Buckhorn Rd has a lot of nice spots. Further north off of CR69 north of Rustic has some good spots too. And some great fishing up in Red Feather Lakes (Canyon Lakes North map)

You might try Beaver Reservoir / Coney Flats via 96. Has a great water crossing and decent fishing from what I hear. If you don't mind a bit of fun wheeling, go up the Middle St. Vrain from Camp Dick and take the Coney Flats trail.
