Has any one been to Reva Gap Campground in Slim Buttes Unit sd or camped other places near there. This area is part forest service I believe. I was thinking of checking it out on 4 July week end. I didn't know if all spots would be taken because 4th July weekend . I live in Minot North Dakota it about 4hr 40 min drive . Looking for quite off beaten path overland site to take family. I have 1999 Toyota Tacoma off road trd no winch or maxtrax yet. So some easy off roading.

I’ve camped at Reva Gap many times but not over a holiday. It may be busy over the holiday... beautiful usually quiet spot , campsites are far enough apart so it’s generally quiet. I’ve ridden my horses on the surrounding trails and hiking would be fun as well. It can be slippery if it’s rained recently but you should be fine with your Tacoma!

Is there any water out there? Would you know of any other places to camp near there?

No water but there are vault toilets. Not sure if the toilets are open what with the covid-19. Picnic spring campground in ludlow Sd is not too far from reva gap and is really beautiful. I would highly recommend it!

I think I would give it a try. If you can arrive earlier than the fourth I think that would help. The gap really is beautiful you won’t be disappointed..
