We are trying to plan an impromptu trip down to southern California and I am in need of some advice on some good places to camp.
We are heading down to Agoura Hills, CA on 2/17/17 to have the folks at Front Runner Outfitters repair a leak with our roof rack. We are trying to find a good spot to camp for Saturday night in that area. From there, we would like to head to the Alabama hills area to stay Sunday night. From there we will head home on Monday.
So, I am currently looking for some good overlanding in the following areas:
Saturday - Angeles National Forest
Sunday - Alabama Hills
We would prefer to overland vs car camp in these areas. If anyone has some suggestions on some good spots (possibly with some gps coordinates) to stay and explore, that would be amazing! Any OB members in the area are more than welcome (and encouraged) to join us for the trip or any part of it.
We are still relatively new to overlanding but, we have had our rig set up for a while and have been out in it numerous times. Up until this point, we have only stayed at "established" (payed) campsites. We recently moved to Northern California (Eureka) from Central Florida and we are still learning the rules for backcountry camping. There wasn't very much, if any, back country camping in Florida. We are now looking to up our game and move into the overlanding side of things.
Thank you in advance for any help or advice anyone is willing to offer!
