Carmanah Walbran Park on the SW coast of the Island is a fantastic location. Haven't been there for a number of years myself.

Many areas in the South Island are gated and may be difficult to access. There seems to be more open gates once you're north of Campbell River. You need to be aware of active logging, and at that time of year, you'll be sure to come across folks out hunting. The Vancouver Island edition of Backroads Mapbook is a great resource for destinations and routes.

There are a number of recreation sites for free camping (again, more on the north island)

Late November is a wet time of year, as I''m sure you're aware, but it is still a beautiful place to spend some time.
