I’m in the middle of trying to get my 2WD full sized ready for camping. I’m not planning to do any serious wheeling, but in the same boat. It’s what I have access to and I’m not willing to sell it for a 4x4. View attachment 138411
SWEET truck!

Don't sell that beauty, you'll never be able to replace it.

I just got some advice on another website I'm not sure what to believe. I'm planning a group meetup on 21 Feb and don't have the time/money to get the mud tires, bumper & winch etc. I've been told I can probably get by with just a tow strap, shovel, tire repair kit, compressor and truck claw.

If all I have is a stock Frontier with factory tires, should I even go on the trip?
You will be just fine on your stock set up. I wouldn't stress one bit. There will be plenty of other rigs to help if needed but our camp location is accessible by a normal road car, I even saw a Prius down there once. You will get a chance to pick people's brains and check out all the other rigs before you start buying a whole bunch of stuff you may not ever need.

New member and new to overlanding. I have a 2WD truck (rear wheel drive) . What challenges did you have with a 2WD and what are some tips for a new overlander?

Thanks
Learning our truck limits and how to drive it in them or through them. Best up grad we did to it was when I rebuilt the rear end at 245,000 miles I replaced the warn out posi with a detroit locker and re gear from 3:73 to 4:10. We only run 33" tires.

It had mostly no issue in January on a 1530 mile trip in Baja with about 400 mile of it off road. Biggest issue were in sand but we got out on our own.

video on the Pacific side - we were at about 8,700 lbs with all the gear and supplies.
