I am a Mil'try Man now (as my wife likes to say), and was a teacher before, so I can definitely understand a lot of the volunteerism-centric mission and practical use of existing skillsets that seem to be at the core of the organization.

I am actually interested in learning how to become involved in this organization (within the limits of my various commitments), so I will get with you offline for any information or clarification I can't get from the site. Great build, and thanks again for the information!

Ditched my t0nneau cover and had my Leer 100XQ installed. Locks/unlocks with the ford factory key fob. Large vent windows, removable slider window, carpet liner, LED interior light, roof rack rails.

RCI full skid plate package ordered.(Tax sale until the end of the month)

Next project will be to streamline the bed rack system and build a sleeping platform. I’m thinking a narrow twin aka cot sized memory foam mattress over some built in cabinets.

before the rack system on my F150 I had a shell on the truck. I have the decked drawers and used it as a sleeping platform. I used a 3" memory foam matress topper and cut it to size. I could sleep 3 comfortably in there.. Just a thought

I have thought about the decked and like the idea of it however it seems like there is a lot of wasted space below deck. I might have to take a second look.

I would say there is about 2-3" of wasted space underneath it... but you lose a lot between both drawers and on the ends.... I have my truck with me right now let me take a picture so you can see...

I do a lot of cabinetry on the side that would take up less space but they would be super heavy.

Thanks for sharing those pics. I might stop by a fab shop and see what it would cost to have some aluminum fab done similar to the decked gig.

Did you go steel or aluminum?

I went with the powder coated aluminum for weight savings and corrosion resistance. I’m not rock crawling or high speed anything so these will be more than adequate.

BTW, killer build, I checked your thread.

Great build! I'm a TR newbie here, just knocked out Core Ops and Damage Assesment/Palantir last weekend, haven't gotten out on a deployment yet though. Maybe I'll see you out there someday!

Nothing crazy today, I just loaded up a lot of the big gear to design my bed/drawer system. I hope to start the build this week. More to come!

Today I started the drawer/bed build. I’m using 3/4” Baltic birch for the frame and 1/2” for the drawers. I’m glueing and screwing all joints. Fasteners are Kreg jig pocket holes and GRK 3.5” trim head screws.

I will likely stain then spar urathane when complete.

The bed is 25” wide to match my thermorest and at 16.5” tall it makes a decent table when not in use as a bed. Once I take my bed side mounted tools out I’ll be able to slide the bed in tight to the wall of the bed. I’m looking forward to continuing this project over the next few weeks.
