I'm really a fan of Japanese vehicles. The two Fords (2003 Expedition & 2006 F150) have been great, and have hauled our family of 5 around well, but I'd like to get into something smaller as things change around my house... My oldest has her own 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander AWD now, and we will likely pick one up also after our F150 sells... I'm planning to build up an ultralight overland trailer this winter, so we will easily have enough room for our two roof top tents...
The smaller (or midsize) Japanese vehicles are better on gas, cheaper to insure, parts a cheaper (they are smaller parts, so it is a no-brainer that they are cheaper), and they are built lighter, which in general means they are different to work on (no big tools required). It will be a better fit for us.
