I wanted to start a build thread documenting my roof rack build for my FJ. As I type this I am about 2 weeks into the build and the project is stretching out because I am working on it in a friends shop (He has all the cool tools.) Right now I am into the project for $230 in steel.
The goal is...
I am looking into building a trailer for my RTT and I am looking for advice on what those of you who have built trailers used for an axle. Did you go with a trailer axle from a Tractor Supply type store? Did you have to narrow the axle? How big of a weight rating did you go for the axle?
Thanks...
Hello! I wanted to share my DIY Onboard Water System. I'd love any tips, feedback or thoughts on things you would change or improve! I originally posted this at our blog, You Me & The Jeep, and you can find a materials list there as well.
We were so inspired by Dan Grec from The Road Chose Me...
Once you extend your vent line to the engine bay what is there a specific name for the over flow container to run the lines into? I want to get one that mounts to the fire wall.
Thanks,
Sean
After watching Jillian Rebekah's Tacoma walk-around I want a hard shell first aid kit like the one she has mounted to her truck cage.
I started looking at threads and searching Amazon for first aid kits and hard shell cases. I found Pelican cases to be the ones that seemed sturdy enough to hold...
Looking to put a roof rack on my JK , I found these bracket mounts made by Surco (J600).
Was wandering if anyone runs this mounting system on there jeep and any pros and cons?
I own a machine shop here in vine grove and will be making my own cross bars and basket .
Thanks!-AJ

I just completed my DIY trunk and console for my 2003 Jeep Wrangler. I still have to add tie down points on the trunk, and various mounts (axe, shovel, hi-lift). The Max-5 camo lid will match my Marathon seat covers, whenever they arrive.

Hey ya folks!
After being inspired by @Ryan Welch , I have started working on a storage box for the back of my JK, it will be a simple two drawer system but It’s all I need. So far I have sketched out a plan based on the size I’m shooting for and made rough estimates on measurements and what...
Last summer for my birthday I was given a Viair Heavy Duty OBA kit. supposedly these are "ready to install"
for my purposes i threw out most of the kit outside of the compressor, hoses and tank. If I could do it again I would piecemeal the whole thing instead of the kit, route. The in box kit...
I've had more than a few members PM me about my DIY budget Awning. So, I thought I'd share some photos and a description...
I started with an 8' section of 4" black PVC pipe. I have 6' Thule load bars which I bolted the PVC pipe to, I accomplished this by duct taping a socket wrench to a...

In the Rig Q&A section of this forum I asked the question "Who does their own electrics?". My point at the time was that perhaps it's seen as an easy thing to do, adding electric accessories to your chosen overlanding vehicle and those that might shy away from mechanics are happy to give it a...
So I openly admit that I'm not a mechanic and will shy away from many jobs on my Cruiser beyond changing a wheel... actually I get a bit more involved than that but replacing a wheel bearing is probably my worst nightmare. When it comes to electrics though I don't shy away from getting stuck in...
Background: Why a trailer?
A few things contributed to my desire to have an enclosed off-road camping trailer.
First, I was sick and tired of dealing with a tent. I found out the hard way I'm not as young as I once was (ow, my back), I waste a lot of time setting and packing up my tent...
Hello all, a few weeks ago i was on the fence about buying an ARB awning for my rig to help clear some space on the roof rack & cutting some weight by leaving the old ez up at home. Also, it seems like these awnings have the potential to give better shade when compared to any canopy because you...
With the increase mileage on my JK and the lack of fuel economy, it was time to build a full overland trailer. You see, my JK is my daily driver and having the RTT on the rack does not help. I've been thinking of a complete rebuild on the current offroad trailer I had which followed me to Utah...

Intro:
I've only had this rig since Nov. of 2015. Purchased it to replace my previous rig that had seen much better days. My thoughts were this is a much more capable rig than its predecessor an 03 Trailblazer with a 3" lift. I needed something for hauling my 3 kids and...
