    US Northwest Reocurring 3rd Friday - Beer's & Gears

I can't make it. Gotta work (unexpectedly). By the way, the gps coordinates need a minus sign in front of the 116.33836 as it is dropping in China, lol

WHY did you choose YOUR rig?!

I too have a Tundra DC. I also looked at a Power Wagon and passed. But we looked at a lot of trucks too. The other thing that the Tundra had that the others didn't was the tightest turning radius. That was a big plus for us. The newer Ford, Chevy and Dodges are turn wider than the Tundra...

WHY did you choose YOUR rig?!

Thanks for the compliment. We (my wife had a lot of say in this truck and design) spent a very, very long time doing a lot of research before picking the truck out. We're pretty happy with how it functions. Yes, when not towing, the plate is visible. The mount for the hitch is behind the...

WHY did you choose YOUR rig?!

As I mentioned, the aftermarket was much better for the Tundra then any other Big 5 truck maker. An acquaintance of mine I made during Chevy build, Billy Simmons, owns Brute Force Fab in Fresno, CA. He only does Toyotas and had not yet done a 2014+ Tundra. During our research I called him and...

WHY did you choose YOUR rig?!

We went with the Toyota Tundra after researching the Big 5 truck makers for a year and half. We had a Chevy Avalanche for years, but it was time to move on and learn from the mistake I made with the Chevy. Not Chevy's fault, all mine. It was my first off-road build. First, we wanted a...

    Northwest region back to Calgary

I can't speak to what the snow might be like in late April. I'll leave that to the locals. The ID BDR runs from Porthill south. We stayed near Roman Nose on our trip and found it to be a nice area. You can't get a trailer into Roman Nose, which is why I was asking about a trailer. With just...

    Northwest region back to Calgary

A couple questions for you..... What kind of vehicle are in driving, are you pulling a trailer? Where do you plan on crossing the border? Would Porthill, ID be okay? Google maps says it's 5-1/2 hours from Calgary.

    2019 NW Overland Rally - 06/20/2019

We are in. Working on putting together a group of three or more truck/trailer combinations. Is there anything special I need to know for that? We would like to camp next to each other, for example. But we may not all arrive exactly at the same time. We've attended in the past, but just us...

    IPad Mounts

We love ours. For us, it’s worth any inconvenience. Super easy to read while driving a full size rig. I bet a smaller one would be just fine in a Taco or such.

    Ask About Gaia GPS!

Yes, they do. I signed up in January and they have fixed two major issues in that time period. Both having to do with waypoints and uploading and viewing photos. There were very long threads on their forum about those issues when I signed up and both have been fixed.

    IPad Mounts

We have a 10.5" iPad in our Tundra. I can tell you, there is nothing you can do with an iPad that big that won't, "be in the way." We compromised as best we could, and when it's not needed we take it down (especially on the highway) so it won't become a dangerous flying object when the airbags...

    Ask About Gaia GPS!

In the Gaia forum, there are requests for new features and additional icons is one of the most popular requests. I would highly recommend going there, searching for that specific thread and "voting it up" and offering your recommendations. Gaia probably isn't in OB looking for feedback, but...

    Ask About Gaia GPS!

I don't have any from those states. I have found plenty of tracks/routes on the internet from third party sources (clubs and forums specific to the region(s) I research) and they shared their tracks/routes. By simply clicking on their links and importing them into Gaia, it was breeze to find...

    Ghost towns in Oregon

Thanks for all these links and ideas! Great sources here. Regarding this specific url. That seems to drop me on a private driveway to a residence. Am I seeing something wrong on the map?

    Descend on Bend

Cool. Thanks for the link. I have it bookmarked for 2019.

Overland Expedition From Oregon to Alaska -

Awesome links to your research. Thanks for sharing those. In looking at your photos, are there descriptions of the photos that I can't find? There are a lot, so I get that there may not be any, but just checking I'm not missing out. There were some campsites in those photos I'd love to...

Idaho BDR Porthill to Lowman, July 14 - 22

My wife and I will be running the Idaho BDR from Porthill to Lowman from July 14 - 22. We ran the Lolo and the Margurder last year, so we will be omitting those from this trip in order to complete our Idaho BDR. I just wanted to put out our itenarary in the event anyone is in the area at the...

    Oregon Outback

You have done a lot of work setting this up and the details are great. I have not used Rally Point. But I understand it’s a good way to get the word our to a wider audience. Unfortunately, the dates won’t line up with us so I want to let you know we can’t make it. Bummer. It looks like...
