Greater Treasure Valley (Idaho) Meet Up - 01/04/18

I thought Rally Point was for trail runs and such. I looked around a bit before posting as I thought the same thing. I could be wrong and if Rally Point is more appropriate, I don’t have any issues with getting the word out. The Three Rules for Mountaineering 1 - Look Good 2 - Act Cool 3...

Greater Treasure Valley (Idaho) Meet Up - 01/04/18

Bummer. I work shift work with bad days off, as far as the rest of the world goes. Maybe enough people can show up on 1-4 to figure out how to rotate meet up days of the week. I just picked Thursday as it's one of my days off. We'll see who/how many show up and we can switch days next time...

    Anyone in Boise/West Central Idaho?

I saw some talk about a meet up earlier in this thread but didn't see it go anywhere. So I started a thread over in the OB Meetups forum for one in Boise. https://www.overlandbound.com/forums/threads/greater-treasure-valley-idaho-meet-up-01-04-18.11493/ Please use that thread to RSVP.

Greater Treasure Valley (Idaho) Meet Up - 01/04/18

I've seen some talk around the forums for a meet up for southern Idaho / Treasure Valley but no dates. So I thought I would take the plunge and set one up for after the holidays. So here goes: Date: Thursday, January 4, 2018. Time: 1900 hrs Place: Payette Brewery on River St (733 S...

    Recruiting cards?

Thanks for putting this together, Corrie. I checked out the store and read through this thread but didn’t see how many cards come with an order through the store for $16.00? Can you tell me how many I get? The Three Rules for Mountaineering 1 - Look Good 2 - Act Cool 3 - Safety Third...

Looking for information regarding backcountry travel and camping in Death Valley.

I’ve read everything on the NPS sight and I’ve followed TAP for some years and have all their stuff. We plan on spending 5 – 7 nights in Death Valley and we want to spend as many of them off grid as possible. I understand that backcountry camping is allowed with a permit but the locations are...

    Anyone in Boise/West Central Idaho?

Moved here in 2001 with the now wife, then fiance, as she grew up here and her work brought her back here and I had little reason to stay in Seattle. Lived in Seattle prior and have never looked back.

There is a lot of truck you can't see. Tough to say that based on a single photo. The Three Rules for Mountaineering 1 - Look Good 2 - Act Cool 3 - Safety Third OB Talk

    Anyone in Boise/West Central Idaho?

I know it's not an OB meet up, but there is a Treasure Valley Chapter of Northwest Overland meet up at Edge Brewery in Boise on Oct 11 at 1930. Also, TVC is doing an Oct run to the desert south of Mtn Home later in Oct that will be discussed at the meeting. I work weekends so I can't do the...

    Northwest Overland Rally 2017

We are currently refitting and replenishing in Leavenworth and are heading north in the morning. I'm hoping, like in Flagstaff this year, there's some leeway on going in early so we can set up before the rain starts in earnest. Sent from my iPhone using OB Talk

    Breakfast Meet-up at NWOR-Saturday, June 17th

We are heading to Baker City today, then Leavenworth tomorrow and moving into the Rally as early as they allow on Thursday. We can bring hashbrowns and a spare prep table, but our stove is not portable. Sounds like there might be two grills? Maybe more? Would you be okay with making room...

    Anyone in Boise/West Central Idaho?

That happens with us too. I hear a lot of people say "never overland by yourself," but then we'd nearly never go anywhere. So we prep to support ourselves and recognize the hazards of that choice. We're also not foolish in our travels. Sent from my iPhone using OB Talk

Looking for info regarding condtions on the ID BDR

That's funny! We can't do the August run. My wife bids her vacations in Oct for the next year and those dates didn't line up. We got lucky with the July trip. Sent from my iPhone using OB Talk

Looking for info regarding condtions on the ID BDR

Yeah, Section 1 may not be scenic, but we need to cross it off the list. We're going real slow and stopping at the Bruneau Sand dunes as well. We are doing the Magruder/Lolo with a group from NWO in July. We're starting in Elk City and going around to the north. We're hoping to come down...

Looking for info regarding condtions on the ID BDR

Great pic......thanks. Looks like we'll do Section 1 till Anderson Dam. We'll try to find something not flooded and camp then head over to the NWOR. I also noticed on the USFS link from above that a section of NF385 just closed for the rest of the year...:( Thanks for all the help...

Looking for info regarding condtions on the ID BDR

I did not see those. Thanks for that link. Looks like NFS172 is technically open now. The order expired May 31, 2017.....now, that doesn't mean it's passable, lol. I bookmarked that link. Thanks again!
