    Ask About Gaia GPS!

I posted those two threads in the comment section in the "How to download maps for offline use" along with some suggestions as to what to add to those instructions. That's where I started last night to figure out how to do this. The instructions were good, just not complete.

    Ask About Gaia GPS!

Holy cow, that's the information I needed! I don't mind the splitting hairs.....I need to use the right terms. I totally understand that...thanks for pointing that out. Man alive, they need to include those threads in the section on "How to download for offline use." That would have saved...

    Ask About Gaia GPS!

Here is a screen shot of what I’m referring to. As you can see, the tile size is just 5,269, I’m using just one map (Satellite with Labels) but it has stopped downloading at 45%. In order to get this error, I had to upload a bunch of maps to exceed the 160,000. See that error? “There is a...

    Ask About Gaia GPS!

There is a limit to the size of each individual map. Depending on your resolution. I’m still working on my project so I tested your question out. In order to download the entire US, you would have to drop to the lowest possible resolution (level 9) to collect the entire country. I doubt...

    Ask About Gaia GPS!

Yes, I made my resolution level 17 for that reason. But it does make the maps larger, both in tile size and memory size. But, I’m okay with that as I have the space....so I thought.

    Ask About Gaia GPS!

I did make this mistake initially. Each map must be under 10k tiles. So I stayed under this limit for each individual map. After uploading a number of maps, they stopped uploading. I didn’t catch this right away. Couldn’t figure it out till I found an error message in one of the maps that...

    Ask About Gaia GPS!

I bought Gaia Premium a few months ago and getting ready for a two week trip in May. I tried to upload maps for offline use last night and after doing a lot of them, I realized many never uploaded. I couldn’t figure out why as many did upload just fine and I was doing the same thing for each...

    Oregon Outback

Just saw this quote....sorry I missed it. Our trailer is a Moby 1 XTR, so no issues getting around. We’ve taken it on the Magruder, Lolo, Mojave and elsewhere. I only mentioned it as sometimes it can be a “turnoff” for others if one guy has a trailer and everyone else doesn’t. Our vacation...

    Oregon Outback

We can’t make either of those weeks. I’ll keep my eye on this thread in case things change. Sure looks like a good time. Bummer. Sent from my iPad using OB Talk

    Oregon Outback

My wife and I would be interested in following along with how this planning plays out. We have a scheduled vacation from June 15 to June 24. She has to bid her vacations every Oct for the coming year, so we don’t have much flexibility. But in the event some days line up somewhere, I’ll keep my...

    Anyone in Boise/West Central Idaho?

We attended the NWOLRally and the Overland Expo last year and had a good time at both (first timer for both as well). The NWOLRally is more of a giant meet/greet with lots of vendors. The Overland Expo has more technical courses to attend and classes you can go to. The NWOLRally, not so much...

    In Bend 3/17

I know of a primitive campsite at 44.031176, -121.4310928 that’s right on Ben’s Trail, if you want to have an easy jumping off point for a great mountain bike trail. I’ve been told there are a number of pull off spots along NF-4610. That one above is one a buddy stayed at....I haven’t used...

If someone wants to set something up, that’s all good. I probably won’t make it (my window is very narrow till the later half of March) but that’s okay. I kinda dropped the ball and now my schedule kinda has me in a tight spot. I probably shouldn’t be the one to set up something in the next...

Sorry, I just saw this message. Not sure why. The email alert must have got buried or sent to spam. I was thinking about it, but haven’t gotten around to doing it. Now that it’s the 18th, I don’t see pulling one off till later in March. But that’s mainly due to my schedule.

    Ask About Gaia GPS!

Ok, thanks for the confirmation. I didn’t want to start into this project and find out I could have saved myself 10,000 key strokes by doing it another way.

    Ask About Gaia GPS!

I have had Gaia for a little while and have been trying to figure out how this is done. Do I have to save these points as waypoints? What I'm trying to do is save a campsite I've been to and keep it on my basemap or in a folder so it can work as an overlay.....I don't mind if it stays on the...

    Off-Road Trailer Manufacturers Listing

Being the owner of one for the last three years, I would have to disagree with that assessment. Everyone’s experiences are different, but ours have been wonderful. We’ve been to the Mojave, Olympic Peninsula, Moab, Sedona, St George, the ID BDR, Flagstaff and others. Pretty darn happy...

Greater Treasure Valley (Idaho) Meet Up - 01/04/18

Thanks for the kind words. It was great to see so many people show up. It was funny to realize that some of us had already met before but didn’t realize it! I thought that was pretty funny. Someone mentioned the Treasure Valley’s “3 degrees of separation” and I think that’s pretty...

    Crater Lake

I’ve never stayed around there, but a good source for research (along with this forum) that I use is iOverlander. It can be used on your computer as well as a mobile device. Here’s a screen shot of the Crater Lake area. The three rules of mountaineering: 1 - Look good 2 - Act cool 3 -...

    Ask About Gaia GPS!

I've read this entire thread and have been looking over Gaia's site as well. Hopefully I haven't missed the answer to this question. I like to save my data from trips....camp sites, trail heads, bike trails, fresh water sources, dump stations....that sort of stuff. Or see where others have...
