There was no bottom section at the front of the rack. I could order the panel that goes in there but it would probably take 3 year to get one. Material cost was low for what I built.
Trip went well. Only got down to -2 degrees Celsius. Ran the buddy heater in the vestibule to warm things up before we went to bed. No condensation problems. Good trip over all.
The winter warfare course was with the reserves. There vehicles did not run a lot so none of them started after we got back to them after being in the bush for 5 days.
Not too worried about our water freezing at around 0 degrees Celsius. What would you do to keep water from freezing if the temps were say 10 degrees below freezing? I would imagine that only fill the containers 3/4 full in case it freezes? Keep the water container in the warmest area.
Ferry is all reserved up so it means getting up early to catch the ferry. We have an in reach so the family will know our camping situation each night. Exploration is our theme this trip. Thanks for the input.
So normally I plan trips out pretty thoroughly. Not this time. I have a rough route planned out and marked some potential camping spots in Gaia. Leaving on a long weekend probably isn't the best, but we need to get off this island for a while.
Just gotta relax a little.
Our primary overland vehicle is a Jeep but I have a Dodge Ram 1500 which I would like to make into my winter overlanding rig. Any tips ? Need to find a rack for the RTT first.
Just looking for a list of items for solo overlanding for self recovery.
Please give me a list of 5 items starting with the most important and brands if they apply.
Thanks.
