Ham Radio Installation 2018 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon

I have the tow package with the 4 switches as well in my 2018 JLUR. I used the interior wiring loom and have power running off of 1 as I read it's rated for 40A. I've had a Kenwood TM-D710G installed since last September and have had no issues with it. Attached a couple of pictures to show where...

    Choice?

This looks like an interesting option compared to say Yaesu FT-818 or maybe even an Elecraft KX2/3 for portable use. Only issue I see is that it's not available yet and the estimated date I've seen thrown around is March 2020. Interesting to see how it's priced as well.

I haven't been here long but welcome! There's a trail that I've looked at that will take you from South Fork, past the golf course and eventually end up near Wheeler Geological Area. You could come back down a different way and come out close to Crede, CO.

What can you personally not adventure without?

It seems kind of like cheating, but I find for me personally I cannot adventure without my Garmin Fenix 3 watch. I get enjoyment out of being able to create a GPS track of where I've been either driving or hiking. It's nice being able to look back and be able to easily remember the turns I made...

Thank you all for the warm welcome. Cool to see there seems to be a decent amount of people around the Austin area.

    New from Central TX

Splitting time between Austin and Killeen for work. Got a 2018 JLU Wrangler Rubicon last month and actually found this forum looking up info on CB and HAM radios. Decided to join and hope to learn more about comms and more related to overlanding. My decision was inspired by my girlfriend's JKU...
