I am doing a fuel economy test with my air dam removed/installed as well. With it on I got 26.0 mpg on the trip and 25.45 calculated by hand. Just started the air dam off portion. My driving is flat at sea level. 70% slow hwy driving and 30% around town. Starting on a cold drive train every 52mi...
Vehicle Alert system:
Just some more observations so far that I think will be good info. for those who don't have one yet....
These things are just some more of those "little details" I like about this truck.
1) When I was airing down yesterday that little info. screen on the gauge cluster...
Tire Deflaters....
Boulder Tools
$26 on Amazon
These are not rapid tire deflators.
With these you set them once... then when ready to air down you screw them on and wait. I timed them and it took 10 to 12 mins to deflate down to 20psi. The lower the air pressure got the slower they bled...
I had the same thing in mind. Somewhere like down inside of the bed along the long wall. Out of the way when driving and looking back too. It just will have less gravitational pull though. Which is fine if the plumbing is built to compensate.
I just went through that link you provided in an earlier post to do some digging around. I don't know if the Australian Holden version is exactly the same as our Colorado trucks here in the states. However, I found a review they did on the 2017 Holden Colorado. Long story short... the reviewer...
Yeah. Transfer Case and Transmission breathers had not even crossed my mind for some reason. Good thing that guy had asked on the coloradofans.com website.
I thought the plastic front skid plate is funny as well. Sadly it is not the first mfr. that did that and won't be the last. Maybe they...
Found a cool 100th Anniversary for Chevy trucks on YouTube. It inspired me to do a little bit of reading up on the history of GM. It does indeed have an interesting past.
Here is the 1st vid...
2nd Vid...
The first time Hydraulic Automatic transmissions were used in automobiles... was by...
Xfer Case and Transmission Breathers....
Someone on Coloradofans.com asked me if there are breathers for the Xfer case and Transmission. So I looked. Yes... there are!
I was not able to find the ends of either one though. However, they both rout along the top of the transmission and start...
Front and Rear Diff. Breather Mod:
Not Required!
I swear... the longer I have this truck... the more I keep finding little things about it that I really like. It really does seem that GM put some serious effort into thinking about making these trucks awesome little functional machines. It's in...
On another side note... it takes 3 to 5 years to get the soil right in a garden. These take about 1 year to mature.
I have only messed with flood/drain gravel media since they are so simple. I just keep the feed rate super low and don't even bother with swirl filters... for now anyways.
My...
That is good to hear. Sounds like you have a great mission in life!
An aquaponics system requires more energy up front to set up. However, the amount of money/time/energy saved on the backside is very impressive. These systems keep your plants perfectly watered at all times, are water wise, and...
They like planting things out and look at the fish several times a day.
Other than that they just.... hang out when I am adding water... hold the food as I harvest it... or take the caterpillars off of the plants and release them elsewhere I the yard so that I won't feed them to the fish. lol...
That is pretty cool. You have to be a master of your craft to be successful in all of those growing environments.
I was planning on living down in Mobile, AL until 2020 or so... so when I built my system I left it open year round. Now I am up in Virginia and I have to turn it into a...
My system did have 3 koi and a mess of cheap feeder goldfish when I first started it last year. Had to move this Spring. Sold them all for $100 on Craigslist. Paid for the food, fish, and electricity for the year.
I now have 7 Sarassa Comet goldfish 5 Shibunkin Comet Goldfish.
In the next 5...
At the moment I just have two tomato vines, a ton of Swiss Shard, Kale, 4 Lemon tree clones (put in 4 and have 4 successful clones), and 4 massive basil plants.
I am about to throw down seed for more lettuce.
Every tree or bush I have tried to clone has had an almost 100% success rate. I...
Oh wow. Sounds like you have some serious experience with Aquaponics systems then. I had to ask due to the thread title.
I just built my second system in the Spring of last year. It is true what they say to start small. My second system has been maintenance free (except for feed and water...
Today I parked next to a co-worker with the new gen Tacoma TRD Off-Road.
I noticed that his truck had the exact same tires as my Z71. Possibly even the same size. Even did a double take to make sure the rims were not the same pattern. They were the same grey with silver trim colors.
It makes...
