Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
Neither is most reliable when compared to a mechanical locker - like a lock rite. Reliable does not need air or electricity to work, it only needs a tire to rotate.
I currently carry both - cables and jump box all the time in my JK. Setting up a solar panel in a Walmart parking lot and waiting 2 hours or when you are parked in the shade to get out of the Arizona sun isn't going to cut it.
Why not just swap the engine and transmission out of the Montero for a Chevrolet combo and have a much more reliable Montero with plenty of HP under the hood.
I used to have all three in my Jeep and I will probably put the CB back in it for this new club that I want to join. I have had my ham license for 10 months now and I have only talked on it for 1 day. The GMRS I use every time that I am out on the trails. The CB never gets used and that is why I...
You said that you have an OzTent and that it is difficult to setup and take down? Is it not like the rest of the OzTents? 30 sec setup is pretty easy- yes I know the 15 minutes to stake it all down and set up the awning is a major pain. It is much easier to get in/out of a ground tent at 3am...
Why do 2wd's always want to go where the 4 wheelers go? When you experts who have been there in a 2wd say these things it gives a false hope to the others - mainly beginners. Then they go and get stuck and/or damage their vehicles trying to attempt a 4wd trail. How about you just buy a 4wd drive...
Personally, I would rather have 1 compressor and a tank for the compressor to supply air to and then a separate valve to go to the tires. Since I have a 2 door JK I use a Viair and a dual valve system on my spare tire. So it is a low pressure high volume tank (about 11 gallons) and I fill the...
I see a metal detector and shovel in the back. Garrett AT? I am trying to make room in the back of my Jeep so that I can carry my Equinox with me more often when I go exploring.
I love my JK for all the reasons that you stated - much cheaper to build than my 3rd gen 4Runner. I would make it my off roader and buy a Land Cruiser with a v8 for my overloading vehicle, though. Comfort and reliable till the end of time.
It is a nice looking trailer, but $16,500 is Overlanding prices. No kitchen, no fridge, no a/c, no heat, no spare tire, no independent suspension in the photos. I am sure that the build quality is nice but we need more standard items to see how it could be worth $16,500
I have the Yaesu FTM400XDR in my Jeep. I also looked at the Kenwood 710 and other Yaesu radios that all did APRS. I chose the 400 because I like the touch screen it is large and easy to read while driving, plus the ability to write/send texts by using the screen keyboard that is on the screen...
It would but you would have to spend more than the generator cost to do so. I good charge controller and 200 watts of solar panels. Using 120 volts or using 12volts charges in about the same amount of time.
