Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
You can't really blanket statement this topic. Yes, your MPG and power will be down, but to what degree? Depends on how powered / underpowered your rig was to start. Tires? did you chose an all terrain that doesn't weigh a lot or a heavy Mud terrain? Do you daily drive your truck? is it mostly...
While I'm not building the frame, I'm planning on reusing the frame off my old Apache pop up camper. it is a 2"x3" square tube frame. I'm planning on replacing the torsion axles as they are lightweight, 4 bolt wheels and no brakes. I'd like to go with the Timbren axles and match the wheel bolt...
If the sensor is just hanging in the middle or not attached / in something with mass, you will see swings and inaccuracies. What you are reading is the air and not the mass of the fridge itself.
Overland_Mike,
I'm curious of the amp draw you mentioned. What gauge / quality cables are you running to the rear?
Also, do you have any pics of how you mounted the rear winch?
I carry a 2.5lb under the front of the driver's seat.
I'd like to mount a 5 lb in the bed area at some point as well.
I also keep a cable cutters in the driver's door pocket as sometimes the fire is being fueled by power and a quick snip of the positive cable can help stop the fire.
The group I hang out with does a fall "rendezvous" and we always split the group up in to two. This also helps to make sure no one is too far for proper radio contact which you can get if groups get too long.

Also, the meetings were just changed to the 2nd THURSDAY of each month. 7PM, Crooked Pint in Maplewood. We usually end up in one of the side areas reserved for larger groups.
Winter time it's the car wash at the gas station. Summer time, it's bucket wash in the driveway. Foam cannon soak if it is after a trip and it's extra muddy. Air nozzle and compressed air to blow out all the crevises that hold drip water.
My only complaint about the titan swap is how far your tires stick out. Without large front mud flaps, forget about having a clean truck. But, the ride and wheel travel is AMAZING. I've driven my friend's truck with SPC and radflos (frontier length stuff) and I prefer my truck off road.
I wouldn't say I need a "safe space" but.... Here is mine.
2011 Frontier Pro-4x.
Hefty fab Aluminum skids, sliders
M205 front diff,
Titan swapped with Tundra 5100's, 4 runner springs and custom top hats,
AAL in the rear
285/75/16 Goodyear Duratracs,
Wam! winch mount with a 9000lb Engo winch...
I've got about 50k miles on a set of E load range Duratracs. I've got about 10/32's of tread left. After 4 Minnesota winters and many miles of and on road, I'll be buying another set.
I've got a good friend who is a Fireman. He prefers the log cabin method. I figure a guy trained to put out fire probably has a good idea how to start one.
Just a heads up when posting your ham call signs.... a quick Google search gives anyone your address listed with the FCC. so... privacy and security and all....
yep, I've got a best buy house brand tablet I use for Gaia only. No need to get a tablet that has cell service attached. Just download the map area you will be using when you have Wi-Fi and you are GTG.
I normally also download google maps off line of the area as well for a secondary check...
