What is the last thing you bought and plan to buy?

I am thinking of the rocksport black, heard good things, but still too early to judge as it came out recently.

What is the last thing you bought and plan to buy?

Wow nice. How much did that set you back? I'm looking at new shocks.

    My build journal

Added a 3rd brake light, since factory one broke off, and a spare relocation mount. Ordered side mirrors for when I take my doors off. Planning on getting the hardtop remover.

    New 2024 Taco OffRoad

I'm not crazy about 4 cylinder engines with turbos. Wish toyota would make diesels for the smaller and bigger trucks.

Opinions wanted on practicality of towing a trailer.

I thought about an offeoading camper as well, but have seen them fail on the trails too many times. Usually axle failures. I would not use them on any trails, maybe a fire road that's mostly flat.

Heated Camp Shower vs. Powered Cooler/Freezer/Fridge

Personally, I never showered on long camp trips, luckily I don't have body odor (Asian thing), and I'll use body wipes (hospital kind works best). Fridge is much more useful IMO.

    Installed rear amber lights.

    My build journal

Morimoto BigBangers. Amber NCB. Nilight amber for rear of roofrack, will get another set for side of rack. They are incredibly bright! Brightest lux and best heat fade, tested by a company on a youtube channel. Morimoto 4Banger HXB (I think). Very bright. Very nice color as well, nearly the...

    My build journal

Starting of the JL build. Dual color and flashing light bar. Auxbeam. Works well, but isn't the brightest light. Survived snowmageddon. New tires! Mickey Thompsons Baja Legend EXP 37x12.5x17 These are excellent tires. Do great on most terrain except deep slushy snow, but nearly all tires...

    My build journal

Some pictures from around the last time I posted 4 years ago. Big bear, CA Anza borrego Ecoflow delta 2 (220 watt solar panel) and jackery 500 (100 watt solar panel) Times I've gotten stuck This one out of nowhere. Was driving on some grass in some canyon, suddenly my jeep just drops all...

    My build journal

Wow it's been 4 years, I just figured out how I can find threads started by me haha! My JK was going great, going on 7 years, nothing major other than an alternator that I ruined and a fuel pump going bad, all under lifetime warranty, surprised they installed a new alternator as I caked it with...

    Tire recommendations

I went with a hybrid tire (Baja Legend EXP), so it has mud lugs outer tread and AT lug center tread. They're reasonably quiet, louder than ko2s and much quieter than KM3s. The music on low volume is enough to drown them out. My wife hated my KM3s, but she's not bothered by the baja legends...

Best way to mount a solar panel to freedom tops?

30 watts is too little though. Says it'll take a 200 watt panel about 6-8 hours to charge a 50ah.

Best way to mount a solar panel to freedom tops?

My jeep hood isn't flat and has stuff on it.

Best way to mount a solar panel to freedom tops?

The cross bar is a good idea. I wanted the solar on the freedom top so I could be always charging when the sun is out. I have a folding solar panel too, I could maybe plug both in. I'm guessing I'd need both panels to be about the same wattage.

Best way to mount a solar panel to freedom tops?

I want to mount a panel to my jeeps freedom tops, probably not permanently, something that will not be blown off, but something that can be removed when not camping. Any ideas? 100 watt panel seems the appropriate size. When I go camping, I use 2 large Plano cases so mounting to the rack won't work.

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

New pillar pod lights. Plan on doing all morimoto lights. Fogs and headlights next. The stock leds are good though, so on the fence still. Bumper lights

Plano Owners, Ideas to Use the Tie-Down Ends

What is tie down ears? I currently use Plano cases and used ratchet straps, but broke 2 cases when I wheeled a little top fast and hard. I think they weren't strapped down tight enough, never had an issue before. I plan on getting the same Plano cases, as I haven't found any in that dimension...

    Is Electro-Overlanding a thing yet?

I think the hybrid only makes sense for driving short distances to work. I rented one for over a week and was not impressed. It wasn't bad, but my diesel was getting more mpg on 37s than the 4xe on stock 32" tires. Also more torque at the low end is nice. I've wheeled 3 days, and was averaging...
