    Looking for Work/Camp/Hike Boots

You know, boots are as personal as underwear, everyone's feet are different, everyone's usage is different, and everyone's environment is different. I have worn boots every single day for the last 22 years as part of my uniform, and depending on what I'm doing, my choice in boots has varied...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Unfortunately, I was unable to finish my rear diff work, so my daughters and I just painted my wheels. :) We kinda made it this weeks Daddy-Daughter time.

    Legal Weapons and Overlanding

Sig 229 scorpion in 9mm (beautiful pistol) and a custom AR. Down here in the Tejas, we have a LOT of good custom companies. Right now I'm spending money on a good tactical 12g, and a nice starter bow for my budding Katniss. Sent from my iPhone using Overland Bound Talk

Discovery 2 Electrical: Brake Lights Issue

Dude you're kidding! I'm stoked that you solved it, but what a weird issue for a Disco, I thought I had every problem you could have with one. Sent from my iPhone using Overland Bound Talk

    Oregon Backcountry Discovery Route

You really owe your wife something nice for climbing up there in the rain and stowing that tent. Thats pretty BA.

    FZJ80 door locks

Originally they were all keyed the same. My Truck has 221,000 miles on it, and the ignition switch has been replaced twice. I have the luxury of having a couple of these on a lot, and I am able to just replace the contacts, and keep the original tumbler, so my factory key works fine still...

Rear Diff Problems- Anyone rebuilt a Toyota 80 rear?

I've done a lot of this work before, and I have a close family member who owns a shop. I dont plan on doing the work myself, Ive done enough to know I dont like differential lube in my arm pits. I just like knowing what Im getting into, in detail, you know?

    FZJ80 door locks

Most likely the ignition switch has been changed out. The contacts on the back are famous for wearing, resulting in no start conditions, so most likely your door cylinders are original, and your ignition key is a replacement.

Rear Diff Problems- Anyone rebuilt a Toyota 80 rear?

So as I metioned on the "what did you do with your rig today" thread, Im having a growl/howl/whine from the rear of my vehicle. I've done some basic troubleshooting and I narrowed it down to either the diff, or POSSIBLY a frozen slip joint. Unfortunately last night I pulled the drive shaft to...

Quick 48 Hours at the Lake

So I always try to sneak in time outdoors when I can, this weekend I had duty at a location near an outdoor recreation area, so I grabbed a campsite instead of a barracks or hotel room, and tested some new gear, rehabbed the older gear, and enjoyed the weather. My humble abode for the weekend-...

    Overlanding Photos

This right here is exactly why we all do this. Fabulous. Death Valley is on my list, every time I mention it my wife replies "Youre an idiot". She lived out that way as a kid, so that one will probably be me and the kids. :) Beautiful shot.

What kind of Overlander are you? Poll Question

I try to take advantage of my rig and whatever time I can eek out. I have duty this weekend, but instead of staying in the barracks, or some crappy hotel, I booked a campsite by the lake. It's not the most scenic place ever, but there are worse, and it's a great respite from the chaos and...

    Indiana Members, check in here.

You guys in Indiana have something out of the ordinary going on up there. Everyone I know from that place is "unique". The Indiana influence on things seems to only be outdone by Texas, and California. I've spent some time in the Elgin and Indianapolis areas a few years ago, and with the...

What kind of Overlander are you? Poll Question

Even at times when flying might make more sense, we take road trips. We consider it "over landing" of a sort, even when we take the wife's Enclave. Were prepared to be vehicle dependent regardless. We like taking road trips as a family.

    1995 FZJ80 Land Cruiser

That is 100% why I'm keeping my cruiser, and funneling roughly what that monthly payment would be into its modification and maintenance. Next year my daughter starts driving, and I'd rather she has a nice reliable car, than I have a new 4Runner I'm afraid to drive the way I like.

    Camo netting for shade

THIS is a great idea. We've been hanging LEDs under our awnings, and pop ups for a while, but I hadnt considered the Camo net. I have a couple if anyone is interested. The down side of parachutes is that they catch the wind (in keeping with their original purpose..)
