Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
You may have seen yesterday that it was a party. Well, we got the party started last night, and shut'er down today. There was a bit of agitation, a bit of confusion, a bit of cursing, and a bit of rejoicing, and it got done. The motor mounts weren't all that bad to change out. Actually none of...
Now it's a party...
Parts are in. I guess I forgot to post that I had actually pulled the trigger and ordered them.
What you're looking at here are a new torque arm, torque arm bushings, polyurethane transmission mount, and M.O.R.E. bombproof motor mounts. This should, hopefully, resolve my...
I'm with @AdventureAwaitsTN. Sometimes life got in the way, other times I made stupid decisions. The biggest regret / mistake I think I made was getting rid of my old suburban. It was a great family rig, and was setup very well, but I thought I needed more luxury in my life. Live and learn. I...
To, nothing super special, replaced the old strap I had holding my battery in with the correct hold down. I also started putting the stereo in.
For, I ordered new bombproof motor mounts, polyurethane transmission mount, and a new torque arm with bushings. All apparently long overdue.
Totally! We actually do a lot together. We like to joke that she's my first son. She's typically the first one to volunteer to go with me when I do anything...except hiking. She loves jumping on the motorcycle and blasting down the back roads, or going exploring on 4 wheels. Building a lasting...
My wife and I have talked about going on trips many times, and she has seemed pretty excited about it, but we have yet to actually accomplish an overland journey together. That's spanned 21 years, and typically it's been due to conflicts in our schedules.
She and I are now working toward a trip...
Digging into the under carriage. Lubing the lubrication points, and noting the things that need to be fixed / replaced. Looks like I need some bushings.
Yesterday was a relatively light day. I added loom to the engine bay to pretty much finalize the under hood wiring project. It's a whole lot less than what was there before, and it definitely cleans it up. I need to find some way to attach the loom to the firewall and fender liners, but this is...
I added loom to the engine bay to pretty much finalize the under hood wiring project. It's a whole lot less than what was there before, and it definitely cleans it up. I need to find some way to attach the loom to the firewall and fender liners, but this is pretty much the way it's been since I...
Can you point me in the direction of those tool hold down / mount straps? They seem like they'd be pretty useful when it comes to getting and staying organized.
Started with power washing the under carriage, then flushed and bled the brakes, then started teaching my daughter how to drive a manual. That was great times. Then I found my radiator is leaking. Bummer, but it shall not put a damper on my day
An exciting day indeed. No worries on the patience, though. I taught her how to drive to begin with, and we click very well in that type of situation.
We got out relatively early this morning and did a quick power washing of the undercarriage, and then pulled it back in the garage to flush and...
Lat night I received my new grill mount park/turn lights, so I got them wired up and working. After that I rigged my hatch latch cable so it seems to work again. I then threw the seats back in so I can move it to power wash it and then give my daughter her first lesson in driving a manual...
The new grill mounted parking/turn lights came in yesterday, and before and after running my son to do some fundraising for the swim team at the football game I was able to pull the old lights, wire up the new lights, and re-install everything. The wiring is ultimately the same as it was before...
The grill signal lights came in today. WooHoo! I'm hoping to get them in tonight, which will leave me putting the seats back in so I can drive it to where I'm going to power wash it. I'm stoked
You're telling me . When I got it, it had the factory radio in it, and it worked as expected until the dreaded windshield leaks finally caught up to it. That started the cascading effect of hacking and trying to keep the music flowing.
Some have said it looks out of place, and I can...
Today was an eventful day. I was able to get all the dash all sorted. From the dash lights to the 4x4 and emergency brake idiot lights, they all light up when they should. I'm stoked. Of course, I still have to tie and loom everything. That par for the course with all the wiring so far.
I took...
