  • Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.

    Cheap Amazon Diesel heater recommendations?

Whelp, I can say that my test last night was a total success. Started the heater up at 10pm last night, and just shut it off. Running the heater on the highest setting, I was almost too warm sleeping last night, and it's currently about 26°F outside. Looks like I'm good to go for next weekend.

Isn't that memorial day weekend? If so, I'll have to pass on that, as I have another trip planned.

    Cheap Amazon Diesel heater recommendations?

Whelp, got my new mattress in the tent (3in KingCamp self inflating style), and will be testing out the diesel heater in the safety of the driveway tonight. It's supposed to get down to about 26 tonight, so I want to make sure it's able to run all night.

US Northwest Idaho BDR Trip! Time on trail 14 days (extra days planed for extra stops, etc.).

You will be finishing the trip right about the time we start it. I'd love it if you could possibly provide trail condition updates. Hopefully you have a safe and enjoyable trip!

What justifies the expense for a rooftop tent?

After using one for a year, I love mine. To me, the expense is a combination of comfort, and keeping the wife happy, so that she wants to go on trips with me. When I was planning on building a trailer, I showed her that I could build either a squaredrop style that we sleep inside, or an...

    Jumping Jack Trailer

I always thought these were pretty cool trailers, and if you take it on adventures, I'd say that makes it an adventure trailer!

The official OTO "Ozark Trail Overland" gear thread!

I have a ton of Ozark trail gear that gets used all the time. My wife has an Ozark Trail folding rocking chair that she loves. I have the larger Stanley base camp set, as well as a smaller set that stays in my Xterra. Both are fantastic. Ozark Trail plates, utensils, island a few knives I...

What is YOUR ultimate overland setup, and why?

This is why I'm a big fan of the modular setup. The trailer goes when the family goes, or if I were doing a very long trip (which I haven't done yet). If it just me, or my daughter and I, the trailer usually stays home, and we take just the X. I have independent water systems (5 gallons in the...

What is YOUR ultimate overland setup, and why?

I actually have zero need to SAS. I just LOVE the way first gens look SAS'd on 35s. I'm currently working on scoring a set of Calmini UCAs from a guy on Xterranation. I think 3 inches of lift will be more than enough for the old girl. I've only rubbed her belly once, and that was going over...

    Overland Trailers

I'm surprised I've not posted in this thread before. I purchased a trailer in July of 2021 with the intent to turn it into an offroad trailer. I started with this for $450 By memorial day of 2022, I had built this: I still need to finish the corner trim, and possibly replace the rear...

Sweet. That's only about 1.5-2 hours from my house. @a12houk also has my zoleo number now as well, so I'll get a text when you guys get there with the location, just to be safe. ....if I can join you.

US Northwest Spring Break in Owyhee Canyonlands

I grew up in western Washington, so I get what a haul that is. Most of my wife's family still lives in the auburn area. I would just need to know the general area you're planning on being in Friday night, then actual GPS coordinates via satellite sms when you guys get to camp. That would...

If I can swing it, I'd love to come and meet up with you guys on Friday night (6th?) and travel with you until Sunday. @a12houk - do you or anybody else traveling with you have a satellite communication device? If so, I can give the group my zoleo number, and you can text me when you get to...

    Cheap Amazon Diesel heater recommendations?

Yeah, I'm not entirely sure what the best solution for the hose is. I do know that I don't need as much as I currently have either. I'll probably try a 4 layer hose, maybe with a coupling that connect to the end of the flexible metal tube that came with the heater. That seems to be a common...

    Cheap Amazon Diesel heater recommendations?

So, I hooked the heater up to the trailer, using the voltage stabilizer, while I worked on some other stuff. Had a 10A fuse on the fuse block. Blew it instantly. Replaced with a 15A fuse, and tried again. Blew that one as well. Put a 20A fuse in there.... Hit the power button on the...

Man that's a little much, and not at all my style. I can appreciate the effort that went into building it though.
