Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
Check out Chaco in central New Mexico. It's pretty remote, but very cool. Also Bandalier near Santa Fe and the Sandia Tram in Abq.
Also, near Grants in NM is a place called El Malapais where there are Lava Tubes. Bandera Cave. It's worth seeing. Kids love that stuff.

I use a Sony a7s for photos and video. It's great for photos, but I do mostly video with it. I also used my CAME Optimus Gimbal for some shots for upcoming videos.
I got the GoPro Hero 5 Black and let me tell you it's a FAR FAR FAR better camera to any GoPro I've had before. It's really nice...
We planned our recent trip to the Mojave National Preserve around cool things to do with the kids, and it went REALLY well. Those experiences will be the focus of our video series on this trip. So check out our channel if you're interested. Everything we did down there is worth doing again...
In most National Forest areas you can camp anywhere as long as it's not specifically prohibited. Fires are another matter.
Also, the Stampede area is still under snow. In fact, It's snowing in Reno RIGHT NOW. Wait, not now, It was 15 seconds ago though.

So you communicate with the XBR in simplex and it hits the repeater with a regular offset and PL?
You mentioned in that article, does that mean you can use FRS?

Looks like you guys spotted a Tortoise too! We saw one on the side of the road on our way to Foshay Pass and Kelso Dune. Was happy I'd printed out the report form.
Hmmmmm lots of potential here. I like the OVERLAND first like Overland Bound...
You could go with something like "The Tortoises: An Overland Expedition team"
Or Dusty and the Roads, like a rock band.
Sorry @twin magnolias...
Bob (Badass Oberland Bunch) or other acronym
Broverland (If...
I don't know why it's in that book. Not much of a trail.
I was looking across from the ski area Sunday and I'm pretty sure Jumbo is snow free.
There are places you could camp up there.

Are you thinking of the one off Timberline Drive? I don't know that you can camp up there. There's an upper trailhead, but it's near some private property with off grid houses. The road is gated just past the TH.
We have two boys who are 2.5 and 7 this spring. We did a 4 day overlanding trip in Death Valley with them last year and it was great!
We listened to audio books while driving. Recommend the Lemony Snicket books.
We stop a lot and let them out and running around, climbing and generally getting...
We don't cook much out of the truck like that. I have an REI Camp Kitchen Tote Table that I set up and cook off of that. https://www.rei.com/rei-garage/product/879893/rei-co-op-camp-pack-n-prep-tote-table
I don't think it's unusual for things to get like this and to feel that way about it. It's easy to fall into the habit of wanting more gear and toys thinking that will make things that much more fun. I just think back on cruising back roads with my dad in our old bronco with not traction mats...
