    Overland Trailers

I've been perfecting our trailer since 09'. The tarp is custom made. I rounded off all the corners of the top sides and it is a completely water, and dust tight fit. We've been in torrential down pours and sandstorms of the southwest and nothing gets in. Up in the nose our Yeti 75 sits...

    FZJ 80 purchase or not??

don't hesitate a moment.. I paid more than that 3 years ago for my 80 with only 210,000 miles on it. It now has 251,000 and several times I've been offered more for it than I paid for it. We just finished up an 8,000 mile tour of the middle southwest. I wouldn't hesitate driving it up to Alaska...

    solar power

OK, research nearly completed. Since we will be mounting the panel to the front section of our roof rack it will be roughly 70 - 80% efficient. Given that, with an 80 watt panel we would break even with the fridge set at 35 degrees. The Engle is our dedicated freezer so a 100 watt panel will...

    Hello East Coasters!

Hey guys, I just discovered this thread, so here I am now. We are outta Pa, and I'm with the Keystone Cruisers, a chapter of TLCA. We go on long range trips, usually out west or up into Canada, but now that I'm retired, we have lots of time to discover areas in our back yard. Locally, I'm 50...

    solar power

Hello all. It's high time to discuss solar panel power options. I run a dual battery system so when our fridge/freezer, our power inverter, used to charge up the phones, the laptop, and the camera batteries, runs our 55ah agm batteries too low to start the cruzer after a 24 hour period, it...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

After a hard pull two Saturdays ago and bending the stock thimble out of shape, I ordered and installed a Viking thimble to go with my Viking 3/8" line.. Thanks to a guy on youtube and a little finagling my wife, ( an excellent seamstress, knitter etc ), helped me get it done. We used masking...

    Post Your YouTube channel

I have some long vids on here that we put together a few years ago, but more recently, since we got our 450 I just post up some clips.. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeY0h_R2MXwdsHCwZu-uFeg

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Finally have the time to upgrade things, so I built a pair of slide out drawers for the galley on our trailer

    Tents

thank you mellow dave.. it is sometimes ridiculous spending big bennies on a product you may never utilize, and I too have stuff that is sub-par and I'm OK with that too.. but a tent? ranks really high on the top 5 most important pieces of gear..

What was your first vehicle you took exploring.

it's an old photo, one of the only ones I have, but it is from 1977 somewhere in the Rocky Mountains . I loved that 40 and it took me all over southern California as well. I used to wheel up the Big Tujunga Canyon and camp... Then, my EX wife crashed it......

With shittybuilt it is hit or miss on quality. The company, as has many other companies, decided that strict quality control is more expensive than "after the purchase" customer service. It amazes me how so many people can be satisfied with sub-par gear. Until they actually go out into...

    Tents

Yup, they are nothing to mess with, always keep your tent well vetilated. You're not really using it as a "heater" like in your car or home, but when it is in the mid to low teens it's nice to be able to keep the inside of your tent above freezing..

For basecamp we have OZ's Jet Tent 25X. When we are back packing, or on the move and staying at a site for only one night, then we use our Sierra Design. We went through a couple of cheapo's over the years. tried the REI Kingdom 6 but it was just too small for a basecamp, especially in...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

yup, I learned the hard way, I had an XD9000i and felt like a king when I installed 80 feet of Viking line on it... after using it on an outing I was cleaning the line the next day, spooled it out only to find melted line... Then I did my research :( I sold the XD9000i and got a Superwinch...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

I hate throwing a wet blanket on your very good choice switching to synthetic line, but it just isn't as simple as just replacing your steel line with the synthetic. It's not.. at all.. The M8000 has the brake mechanism inside the roller drum. It gets hot and will melt your synthetic line...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

After a great day of wheelin with fellow TLCA members at Rausch Creek, I have spent the morning cleaning my extraction gear and my winch line. I'm thinking about washing my rig, but it's supposed to rain for the next 3 days, and I am pondering getting a new, easier to handle, and stronger winch...

OK,,, I got the 400p and used it for the first time yesterday. I am impressed. I didnt put a stop watch on it, but i walked away to chat with a buddy, and came back after only a couple of minutes and it aired up to 40 lbs from 18 in a very short time, very short time.. I had to let air out to...
