Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
It's ALWAYS the art of the compromise......advantage to self contained is just that....but you have to move the whole house every time. Advantage to trailer is that you don't, but you do have to trailer.
Coming off adventure motorcycles and tent camping, my wife and I went for the ability to go...
Silverton, Ouray, Telluride, Lake City, Colorado. The Alpine Loop. Imogene, Hurricane, California, Engineer, Cinnamon, Cork Screw, Black Bear......and the list goes on and on.
Most if not all will take your breath away!
I just put an Overland Vehicle Systems (OVS) 180 on my teardrop trailer.....no pics yet, but very impressed with the quality. And they have walls for them as well.
Stock JK offset is 6.25"
AEV wheel offset is 5.3"
Most common offset used on lifted and wide tired JKs is 4.5"
Personally, I am not a fan of the super fat tire look on Jeeps, I like the tall skinny look. I have AEV Pintlers at 5.3" and 285/75/17s at about 11" wide and everything is just flush...
My wife and I will be out and about around Ouray, Telluride, Silverton, Lake City, Buena Vista that same week Jeepin' about and me showing her the places I've been on two wheels that I want to share with her. Holler when you nail down a plan, and if our paths cross we can share a beer.
I have NOT done the whole route, but most of it from what I have ridden, and what else I know about is not overly difficult. Hagerman Pass might be one of the "harder" sections.
However, 4 wheels are slower than two when off road, so as you do a bit more research, keep in mind that you can leap...
I'll follow this one.....I use Gaia and Trails Offroad. I like meandering in TO looking for trails and finding some "difficulty" info and then pull it into Gaia for nav. But it appears that you can do both in OnX. I've been wondering about it as well.
I have no personal experience with it, but have read that it is a fairly decent lift. What are your plans for the rig? It's ALL inter-related when it comes to lifting a Jeep....I have been reading for months and just ordered one for my JK. Tires (size and load rating), inflation pressures, and...
We went with a civilized version....a NuCamp Tag. It's what they call a Boondock edition, so lifted and bigger tires/wheels. We plan to pull out there a ways, set camp, and then meander in the Jeep. The trailer isn't overly "ruggedized", but my wife loves it, and that makes me happy. Just put a...
