Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
Emojis don’t seem to work on here... but there’s no better word lol
Just to clarify, this trip is planned for 7 April 2021 (Flagpole Knob) and 8 April 2021 for MABDR
The plan is to go in April. Also I was camping in the same area on Thanksgiving and it wasn’t bad with my sleeping bag and some layers.
It’s warmer in April though ...isn’t it?
I’m trying to convince my wife we should pick up an RTT for this trip. If it happens we will have a spare ground tent.
I will say our ground tent is pretty awesome and cost 20$. LLOD did a review on it and he really liked it too
Wednesday: Midday drive up to Flagpole Knob from the lake (starting at noon), then going down Union Springs road and then to Peter's Mill Run
Approximately 3 hours, of slightly more challenging driving at Flagpole Knob, about 1 hour on pavement and then about 1 hour of the PMR trail
Thursday...

Greetings from a radio guy in Fort Lee NJ!
A lot of good guys have already posted in here, you’re in great hands. Feel free to PM me if you want someone to go out with or to chat.
I think the app is called hamstudy, you can go to hamstudy.org too. I learned everything from practice lol
For the test I just learned if question asks “A” the answer is “B” etc
It’s amazing how much better VHF performs compared to GMRS
That’s a 5/8 wave, in the hills you might be disappointed compared to a 1/4 wave. I keep the shorter 1/4 wave on the truck because of the height but also I live in a valley and it beats out the 5/8 locally. From mountain top to mountain top that midland should be really impressive on 462...
Getting the technician license was easy. There is an app that gives you the answers, you just memorize it. What’s your GMRS callsign? I’m interested in getting a GMRS specific antenna. I currently use a 1/4 wave and a 5/8 wave firestiks for VHF but that isn’t ideal for GMRS. What antenna is that...
Someone on the internet said the eBay one fit too lol. I hope the dobinsons does actually fit though.
Schrockworks skids were the first things I put on the truck
