    Overland Vehicle Systems - Shower

Well yea, you only go around once. We also have an on demand hot shower . Lookie here, my honey really enjoys going out alone and very remote, the longer out the better. I count myself lucky in making a really good choice in women 33 years ago. Now that we are getting up in years, a hot...

    Overland Vehicle Systems - Shower

Good morning, A couple years ago ASPW introduced his viewers to a fold out shower room attatched to the roof racks, mounted in the same manner as an awning. My wife and I both thought it to be a great idea and looked forward to them being imported to the US, however, not a $500 plus shipping...

Toyota owners, I need your help!

Good I’m pleased you got away from your “ trusted mechanic”. That guy was ripping you off. I read down the list of parts and the first thing that struck me was the use of Fel Pro gaskets. Always use Toyota gaskets. Fel pro may be good for old school American engines, but not Toyota’s. Then the...

I feel like an apple freak. It's bronco release day. Ha ha.

Yes. It is well worth any perceived downside. I say perceived because it is in the eyes of the beholder. I personally don’t find any downside with my vehicle handling and riding a bit like a truck on the highway. It is what it is. Is SFA more dependable than IFS, yes, not even close. SFA...

What's your latest camping gear purchase, and what caused you to buy it?

Just finished installing a new solar charge controller that will support our new portable 120 watt briefcase panel and our original 100 watt panel. This increase of our solar capacity will support our fridge, freezer and dual battery 120ah ( 60 actual ah) capacity indefinitely.

I feel like an apple freak. It's bronco release day. Ha ha.

Yes, in spite of what I said about all this earlier, it will be fun to watch. This is the first direct competition to the wrangler platform in decades.

I feel like an apple freak. It's bronco release day. Ha ha.

I posted this elsewhere. In addition to this let me say that I prefer to drive a vehicle, especially off pavement, not the vehicle driving me.

I feel like an apple freak. It's bronco release day. Ha ha.

If it is anything at all like the new Defender then I’m out. If it is more like the INEOS Grenadier then there is reason for my excitement.

    Rear Diff Breather

Mine are both together up in the engine bay. I’m able to check their operation as regularly as I check my oil. Which is usually every day.

How to reduce clanking/banging of pintle hitch?

Very rarely does our pintle hook make any noise. Proper tongue weight, proper tongue length, and proper tongue height make all your noise go away.

    Shooting of Offroaders

Murph, I think we can go back to the late 70s when the idiot per capita ratio began to go up. Now they, (generations since then) are adults and there are a lot of em.

    Shooting of Offroaders

Better question ? How did that wack job pos get a gun? Even if the poor guy was carryin the pos had the drop on him anyway. I’ve watched enough westerns and detective shows on TV to know this. This is all very sad news.

Why are there so few Silverado overland rigs?

Yes, actually we are. Everywhere all over the world, so be careful or you will be assimilated.

    Retired

Congratulations on your retirement. I’ll admit it is a bit disconcerting not having to save money, not working, and being able to actually play all the time. It took me about 3 weeks to get used to it

To Share or Not to Share (Dispersed Camping)

Interesting the times we live in - I was once labeled a rude dog hater because I called someone out for allowing their dog to run all over the devils kitchen in the needles district and then again on the WRT. They were fortunate that a ranger didn’t witness them or they would have been, at the...

    Optimal lift for TJ

Well said, many/most newbies haven’t a clue the capability of the TJ Rubicon. I did exactly as you did and never once felt any inclination to turn around because of any trail.

    Calling all solar panel gurus

You’ve confirmed my assumptions- it is a brand new battery and the two combined batteries give us a total of 126ah or about 60 usable AH. I’m thinking another portable panel and MPPT regulator. I’ll be doing more tests at home before choosing.. I know solar panels have come a long way since...

    Calling all solar panel gurus

I have a 125 watt synergy solar panel with the cheapo kit controller set at 14.1 volts. I have an Engle MD 14 for freezing and an ARB 63 qt for refrigeration. On average the fridge and freezer supposedly draw about 4-5 ah combined The solar panel supposedly makes, on average 6-8 ah. Yet...

    Camp entertainment

Just in case we ever get stuck in the tent for multiple days at a time, (think monsoon rains, Estes Park floods of 2013, we were there and in the tent for three straight days) we carry our Kindles, a cribbage board, and a travel scrabble board. Honestly though, that was the only time we spent a...
