What is the last thing you bought and plan to buy?

Canadian Wilderness area? That’s anything north of any Cities . Where you headed?

What is the last thing you bought and plan to buy?

I finally threw in the towel on the old Coleman dual fuel. Attaining “blue flame nirvana” became impossible and we had soot everywhere. So- rebuild it for the third time? Or set it out on the road with a “free” sign? Bought a propane two burner stove yesterday. The Coleman’s out on the...

Can we now just go back to just calling it “car camping”?

I actually like Columbia clothing, it’s not nearly as overpriced as brands like The North Face or Patagonia and I find their clothing line to be comfortable & long lasting. But now with this marketing campaign? Jeeze- they’ve lost my respect. I avoid being trapped into using the term “...

    Camp shower?

That’s what I said- a shower every other day, for 2 people or 8 showers week, at 1.5 gallons, for 9 weeks and there’s still propane left over.! LOL- And that 30% efficiency is darn close !

    Camp shower?

Ah, I should have clarified that- 4 showers each, and my wife shampood her long curly black Irish hair a couple times a week. We also have a dedicated 16 gallon tank for showers. There is also a pair of 10.5 gallon tanks in the trailer and a 5 gallon Jerry can for emergencies. With the...

    Camp shower?

I'll chime in, I have an 11 lb (2.5 gallon) Manchester tank. We took short Navy showers probably 4 times a week for nine weeks. Once a week we allowed ourselves a long luxurious shower. We may have used half of the propane.

No overlanding for a long time

You will heal! A long road, but that’s what you do, long technical roads. Keep on

    Preparing versus Planning

My wife and I began traveling with others only a couple of years ago. Before that we traveled alone. I’m nearing 70 years young and still learning. This time out I learned about the huge differences between how people plan & prepare. My wife and I prepare everything thoroughly for each trip...

My experience with Overlanding vs Off-Roading: Is the barrier to entry for Overlanding LOWER?

To answer your question- yes, there is a huge difference between going Wheelin, for a day or two, and overlanding for a week or more. There are only a small handful of vehicles, world wide, that can accomplish both with slight modifications. Built rock crawlers are not good overlanding...

Three Years, 60,000 miles, Fifteen States and a lot of fun.

Zim, I just now stumbled upon all of this. Yah, a bit late to the game, but I'm in. Nice photo work and a good story. Full time is really taking a leap and I admire those that are willing to cut the strings and do it. Have you considered heading west? And, yes, the reservation system has...

    Always thank the wife

Each and every trip we take, (and we just finished a 13,500 mile trip) I thank my darling for being the best traveling partner ever. She's the best navigator as well as being about the best of everything else in life. My BIL thinks if one lives in an area of intense beauty that you'd get used...

    Grand Staircase & Bears Ears.

Ah, that’s kinda like organizing farmers or herding cats. We want the federal government to stay out of “public” land management, until the management style benefits us, me, you, them. I’m striving for the best of both worlds, keep mining & power extraction out and keep the two tracks open...

    Grand Staircase & Bears Ears.

Thanks for the clarity of your thoughts. I agree with part of your comment about SUWA and with people being there that shouldn’t be there. Therein lies the real problem, ie- bad actors giving conservation groups ammunition that get it all shut down. IMO that’s the problem in a nutshell. If...

    Grand Staircase & Bears Ears.

Nah, your neighborhood will never make it into the International Archeological Site Catalog hall of fame. Peek-a-boo and the entire canyon is indeed such a place. No riff raff allowed back then, nor today.

    Noise from roof rack

Are you able to adjust the placement, front to back? Mine used to rumble a bit, I slid it back less than an inch and the rumble went away. If not, a small airdamn bolted up top would be my starting point. An inch high may be just enough. As a last resort ( ) call Frontrunner up. I’ve...

    Grand Staircase & Bears Ears.

Federal judge tosses Utah lawsuit seeking to shrink Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante monuments This is the first thing that came up. I get newsletters from SUWA and other agencies to keep abreast of what’s going on. We were some of the very last people to drive down the salt creek...

    Grand Staircase & Bears Ears.

Can anyone explain to me the reasoning behind the Blue Ribbon Coalition joining in a lawsuit to keep those two monuments as they currently are? I’ve been to both on multiple trips & would hate to see gates go up because of mineral rights expanded in either place.
