Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
Just google winch bumper for Jeep XJ then google winch bumper for 4-runner. See which one turns up more results. My money is on the XJ. I have done extensive research into both vehicles before I decided on one. The XJ won hands down due to aftermarket parts and pricing on those parts.
If you do replace the box, look into the Durango box mod. I don't remember the details but supposedly there is a set of years that the durango steering boxes were almost a direct swap for the XJ boxes and they are heavier duty. There was something different about the pitman arms from the XJ to...
After the 3rd pump failed within one week i replaced everything just to get rid of the issue. It worked, until this last pump failed. They flushed it again and put another pump on and all has worked great. I usually would do this work myself but this was covered under warranty.
I had some power steering issues when I first go my XJ- had to replace pump 4 times until one finally quite screaming at me, also replaced the steering gear box and all hoses. Then 6mo later the PS pump went out AGAIN, luckily warranty covered it. Funny thing was this post on Instagram- I made...
Same here... wife and I both have vehicles and both of us work every day so we have to make sure if it breaks it is fixed ASAP so we can get kids to daycare and our butts to work. lol

There was a poll on this awhile back, i think @stringtwelve started it but I can't seem to find the thread. I believe the Jeep XJ (Cherokee 84-2001) and the 4-Runners were on top. I have a 2001 XJ, LOVE it and it has been very reliable, parts are cheap and an absolute ass load of aftermarket...
I have pulled trailers numerous times and will say my opinion on the matter.. I would say, send someone down ahead of the trail to warn that a rig pulling a trailer is coming down and request that they wait. Most people would be waaayyy happier that you did that rather than assuming they would...
Hey man...I apologize no one responded to you. It is nothing personal, I am sure. It was probably over-looked or the people who read, didn't have the answers so chose not to reply. We try to not respond with assumptions to peoples questions around here, it can lead someone down the wrong...
Awesome man! Overlanding is, as you seem to know, more than just cool rigs. It is a mentality to explore, customize, train and spend time with people. Keep it up!!
