Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
Thanks, I'll check it out. I only run the antenna when we are actually headed out on an adventure so length isn't a huge concern. That said these antennas are relatively cheap, always good to have options!

I picked up a Browning BR-180 which is a dual band HAM antenna. While not specifically for GMRS there were enough comments in the reviews that it works fine on GMRS frequencies. Initial testing was good but need to spend some more time with it. I wanted something to work with my HAM radio as...
Just keep in mind the red top Optima is a starting battery not a "dual purpose" or deep cycle battery, yellow top Optima would be better and functions both as a starting or deep cycle battery. Either way, I would swap it out for 12v.
I've just started playing with Resolve myself for editorial purposes at home. It's sort of ironic as I work in the movie industry producing movie trailers and have spent years over the shoulder of professional editors and colorists observing. We use Resolve in our theaters to color time the...

Folding 100 watt on the ground for me so I can move it around to go with the sun. I have found that in less then ideal sunlight, having the right angle to the sun makes a big difference. I also tend to put the trailer itself in the shade where possible. The solar is mostly to keep the ARB...
We've been in a couple of severe wind events out in Death Valley with our CVT RTT and had zero issues in what were probably 40-50mph gusts. We even had dinner in the Annex when a storm came up out of nowhere. It seemed to fair much better then some of the ground tents nearby. I didn't bring...
I noticed the GMRS frequency is blank, I know quite a few folks that use these but not of any standard channel for trail comms. Curious if a particular channel was used on any of the trail runs at the Off the Grid Rally, etc.?
