Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
Very true for those of us in the U.S., too much emissions garabage under hood, have to find the motor through the hoses :) He was discussing use in euope, so will have to assume he would get a euro spec unit either way. Personally, my favorite choice is neither, but rather the 70 Series beasts...
At the end of the day it is always a personal choice, everyone will have a reason for what they think is best, that is what makes us all unique and each have unique experiences.Enjoy yours the way you see fit :)
Just was looking at this design NinetyRight Flat Pack Fire Pit – Steel – 30" . Like flat fold ideas that can be packed for transport. Space is always important.
Not the cheapest option, but good size.
The only issue with having air points on the map is that if they are too far from the trail driving to them may be unsafe depending on how low your tire pressure is set. How the vehicle responds at sub 5 mph speeds off road is drastically different than at regular road speeds on near flat tires.
Agreed on the training on proper use of the tourniquet! Not something to take lightly, I personally like all of my limbs and would hate to lose one due to an improperly used one (though bleeding out would be a worse option).
You could also consider having it plasti-dipped, though I am not sure how it will hold up ion the trail, but easy to remove and also change color if you choose. For reference only: DipYourCar - World Famous Peelable Auto Paint. I am not a rep or involved with them. Have seen a couple of jeeps...
Price point, especially for new overlanders, is probably a factor in choice, many “serious” rigs will have all three types onboard. That is most often seen in dedicated rigs, those who use their vehicles daily or perhaps can’t keep their trail rig locked away safely may have reasons to choose...
Guilty of GMRS only at this point, and oddly a section of my trail today requires CB channel 14 M-F, good thing it was Sunday. CB is going away slowly for overlanders generally it seems.
Couldn’t look at one more spreadsheet this week. Made a run from Rimrock Lake to Conrad Meadows and then around the back to Ahtanum Campground at the other end of my loop. Fall is turning the leaves now so if you can get out and play it is a good time to do it. Will throw my track and pics in...
A good thought, that is kind similar to my plan. Wife doesn’t want to drive, but the kid has a couple of years until he gets his license. If I start now I could always have a second/chase/recovery rig on runs. Or just a back up rig in I do something really stupid out there.
I will assume that it is the Ecotemp L5? I was just on their website and found they are having a scratch & dent sale on them, may have to break out the wallet for one at this price. Scratch & Dent- Eccotemp L5 Portable Tankless Water Heater
