Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
well you were asking more pictures, there you.
Not some nature or offroad shots.. :)
At the technical inspection to register the car I was rejected due to an oil leak. At the shop they decided to take the body off and check. Some strange things, some work has been done on the engine...
Vehicle mods
For a beginner :
1. tires,
2. what ever recovery things you can afford. Recovery - starting with the minimum, a shovel up to what ever as experience and need arises
3. vehicle protection(engine skid plate and rock sliders) ,
But for first trips tires and some...
The US did not increase production simply because the shareholders demanded profit after 2 lean years where OIL reached a bottom of 20 $ if you remember. Big and small US producers had a lot of debt and now they need to cash in and start giving back to shareholders. Right now any CEO...
Got this one, not the cheapest one, but not top of the line either.

IN general this company had good feed back.
Has done a couple of trips...
With the help of El - Dracho, I found a specialized service in Land rovers, in Germany, about 200 km from me. I will drop of the car there on Saturday and leave it for as long as it takes to do what is need it.
I got a quote from them for the timing belt kit, HPFP belt , water pump...
I would not keep a fridge outside, an Engel might cut it but even than it will have a rough life. They are expensive.
I had a pickup with a canopy (toper called in US I think ? ) . I had the fridge on a fridge slide right near the tailgate, I would slide it over the tailgate and...
I like Spain a lot. All of them are beautiful, but some are more friendlier than others regardind wild campers /off roadding . I tend to go to the countries that allow it more.
So yeah Germany is beautiful too, but if everything is forbidden.. spoils the fun.
grounding to the chassis saves a bunch of wire and making additional or larger holes in your vehicle. There are factory grounds all over the vehicle if you know where to look, used by the manufacturer. I always try to use those if the position and access is relatively easy..
So I went on Saturday to pick it up from Netherlands, about 350 km away. The trip back home was uneventful, no unpleasant surprises so far. I loved the ride and the engine has plenty of power for my use. Is not a fast car but it will do fine.
Very comfortable and quiet, exactly what I...
got a small daily driver hybrid, great fuel economy , very low maintenance ( it does not have any belts even, some brake pads last 100 k km... ) , easy to park. extremely low tax. It is 4years old and I will keep till the wheels fall off.
Just got an LR4 for trips, holidays, long distance...
Not for me, it is only manual and a bloody tractor with 0 comfort. Like the old defenders, at least for me, I like to admire them from a distance.. but not own.. :)
Thank you. The only regret I have no matter how hard I tried, I am back to a diesel still.. There really are no choices in Europe for this kind of vehicle.
Before I decide some more significant changes I want to have it in my hand for a while, to see what is need it. For sure an aux battery...
thank you . This is the big service I am talking about. Timing belts and I want to change the oil in the gearbox as well..
I don't trust my dealer here since they cant even get an order straight so now I am looking for places in Germany next door to do this...
By the time I was scheduled for a drive test that LR4 was gone, found another one in Netherlands that I bought and going to pick it up on Saturday.
This are some pictures from the add.
It is a 2016 SDV6 with about 150k km on the clock, HSE luxury trim, full service history and 1 year...
so, that day has come, joining the Land Rover owner ranks, I just bought an LR4 from Netherlands that I am picking up on Saturday. I saw it and drove tested a week before.
This are some pictures from the add. .
It is a 2016 SDV6 diesel HSE with a full service history and about 150 k km , so...
The never ending saga is continuing. The dealer called me last week that JLR is not taking orders for the Disco 5 unless is something like a HSE.. I was told it can take anything between 9 and 18 months ( about the time to make a baby elephant.)
Basically this people make it impossible...
Don't know a lot about US pick ups, but for overlanding there are a list of common criteria you should consider.
You should make a proper list, and list the vehicles that fit the bill, make a top 3 - go drive them, and make a choice.
1. How much payload and space you need - nobody knows but...
