Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
Between those of us I know going, we have everything Mike mentioned. We will have winches, tow straps, shovels, and air supply.
I will mention it here, bring a lunch. We will be out on the trail during lunch. I'm looking forward to some winter fun with everyone.
A Winter Run (will be snow) into the Sierra Nevadas. Due to snow heavier conditions on the original route we will now be running from Grass Valley near Malakof Diggins to Bowman Lake and then back to Auburn. Our original run along Emigrant Trail south of Hwy 50 had too many unknowns for an...
Now is a great time to check us out. The meetup just formed, as part of this months meeting (on 21 Nov) we will also be discussing some trips/routes we will want to take.
The 2nd meetup in Elk Grove will take place next Thursday (21 Nov). If you want food, you can order it by calling Steve's Pizza, or using an app called Slice. We will be discussing comms this month.
For September’s meetup, we will get together and discuss how we would like to proceed.
Meetup will at Steve’s Pizza, if you would like to have dinner please come earlier.

Next Elk Grove, CA meeting will be held on 21 Nov 2019, at the same location (Steve's Pizza in Elk Grove).
When notifications go out to an area most people are limited to 100 people notified (like I was limited); I will ask one of the admins to also do the notification because they can send it...
This particular meeting will be on Thursdays at Steve's Pizza in Elk Grove; there is a group that meets near El Dorado Hills on Tuesdays and one in Auburn on Saturdays (each once a month).
I will discuss some of the makeup of this particular meetup tomorrow night, which happens to be the first...
It will be family oriented more than anything. I've built my rigs with crawling in mind, but have easily gone on the death valley and Mojave trips with my kids. This is the initial meeting, and we can discuss the types of trips people want to take.
Great, looking forward to having some new people.
Everyone also remember this is supposed to be a very kid friendly group; I will have my kids, so don't be afraid to bring em if you have em.
Looking forward to meeting you there.
This Steve's Pizza hasn't specifically asked me for the party to order ahead of time, but it might be a good idea to order for food to arrive at 630ish.
Meetup to discuss interest in a long term meetup focused on family overlanding. This initial meetup is at Steve's Pizza in Elk Grove off of Hwy 99 and Stockton Blvd. Arrive at 1830 to get some food, with the meetup starting at 1900. Kids are welcome and wanted, as we discuss what people would...
The FT-70 will not transmit on FRS frequencies. No Ham radios are supposed to transmit on FRS or GMRS frequencies legally. However the FT-70 will recieve on FRS. Having a Ham legal radio and opening it up so it can transmit on FRS frequencies can be done, but it would then be an illegal radio...
I made simple tiger tail for my HT. 19" piece of 16 Gauge wire with a ring on one end. The ring goes in between the antenna and radio. You can do a search and get more info.
I'm on my phone, so I apologize for a short response.
This is one of those hands on experiences I really want to learn about; maybe a meetup topic sometime this year? How long are cook times in the smaller oven? We have a recipe for jalapeno cheese bread, we've been wanting to try out.
I have both a Yaesu FT70DR and a Baofeng UV-5R, and both serve their purpose. If you have the means, then get one of the big 3 radios (Yaesu, Kenwood, Icom); however if you are on a budget or the Baofeng is something already purchased, then you can do 2 simple upgrades. First get a better...
It was my Hiker and no it was not carbon Monoxide; as Kent mentioned, it was a non-structural weld oddity that happened to the rear tire carrier on the trail. I have been really happy with the trailer overall, from sleeping inside, storage, weather protection etc.
More on point to the OPs...
