Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
We are using a single burner butane stove...does the trick for about everything. Gas cartridge lasts a day and that's with heating water to wash as well. Tonight's dinner.
So...not sure if you're gettin' what you wanted but here's my take. The most important item in my camping arsenal is my tarp. You can plunk me down just about anywhere and as long as I have my tarp...everything is gonna be just fine. Don't get all caught up on batwings and those fancy roller...
One of my favorite things to do is ramble through OB while camping...while having my morning coffee. Not a complicated setup but has served me well. It's important to note the Vietnamese beans that I grind every morning...probably 20% higher in caffeine, so I have read.
Quite powerful reading about the amazing efforts being made by citizens and private groups to help and assist those who need it. Super impressed....prayers to all
Here's a photo of our camp...the Bull Ring parking lot. Was full yesterday...back to being empty this morning. Plus a screen shot of how remote this all takes place...quite amazing.
Our Fall tour continues, currently in the mountains of Guizhou ( Gway-Jo) Province. Here, way back in the day, villagers would settle land disputes with their Water Buffalo. They keep this ancient tradition alive to this day. The bouts end quickly with the loser turning tail and running.
Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't Jeep say not to attach gutter mounted racks? FRP is pretty resilient but we not talking about carbon fiber here. Anyways...I too wanted to mount my 125lb. RTT and I'm a stubborn individual. So after plenty of research here's what I came up with. Plenty of shit...
Regardless of what it's called or however long you become still...it's all just sleeping under the stars to me ;-)
Thanks Grub for your continued entertainment
This didn't feel small when we bought it...but after some long tours it sure has made us fine tune our gear. With an empty tank we are right on our GVWR (5368lbs)...so it can be a little dicey when the terrain gets bumpy and steep...just waiting for that big nasty BANG!
Our longest tours has...
A little Coastal Salish trick I've learnt over the years. Next time you are BBQ'ing fish (salmon)...put some wet Fir bark inside your gas barbie and cover her up. Will be the best darn fish you ever cooked.
I just finished installing a new fly on our Yakima RTT...lots of UV and high winds totally trashed the old one which ended its life looking like a patchwork quilt.
Looking forward to booking outta the oven we live...and heading into the hills for the Autumn.
