  • Guest, we will be conducting site maintenance this week and some downtime is expected. At this time Rally Point and the Member Map will also become an app-only feature for long-term security and stability. A few days after this maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.

You can even get these types of heaters to run on petrol.

What do you use as a battery tender when parked for long periods?

I use a cheap HF battery tender. If I don't have AC close and the vehicle is outside, I use a cheap solar setup. You only need about 50ma for most rigs to keep everything charged. Any charge greater than an amp or two can degrade the battery over time.

What not to do with Bear Spray!

you know the old joke about how to tell Grizzly scatt from black bear scatt... black bear is full of berry seeds and smells sweet. Grizzly has little brass bells in it and has the distinct smell of hot peppers.

    Ground up off-road trailer build

Just for chuckles after looking at your work...I bet your wife has called you a pain in the ass perfectionist, but in the same breath said...but you do nice work. :grinning:

Has anyone called out the new Ford Bronco's trail turn assist?

In the rock crawling crowd, these are normally called cutting brakes. You can't use them on a vehicle with rear lockers unless they are selectable and are turned off. Lockers are way more helpful than cutting brakes on anything short of an all out offroad crawler.

Anyone snag any good Black Friday deals?

I grabbed a deal from an individual on Facebook. I got an ARB and gears for my jeep. I am fabricating up a full width Dana 44 to replace my current narrow Dana 44 with a Detroit Locker. At the same time, I am also adding rear disc brakes with a parking brake that does not use those funky...

    Jump starter for 6.5L diesel?

I won a GG150 in a raffle at work. It is great. Not great enough for me to pay $300+ for , but hey...it was free to me.

    Higher Fuel Prices And Overlanding

I built my Jeep 4.0L into a 4.7L stroker 260K miles ago. Being a long time performance engine builder, I match everything and worked on tweaking the computer. I get 21mpg on the freeway at speed in Colorado @ 5000ft. It will pass the 2021 emissions standard.

Build vs. Buy - An Overland Trailer Debate

I kept a strict tally on building mine. I fabricated most everything except the doors. I still spent around $4000.

    Needed some advice

A trick to keep the kerf clean is to take a stick of paraffin and cut through it first to lube up the blade. I have a counter rotating double blade saw that I use. It plunges great and never grabs or kicks back.

    Jump starter for 6.5L diesel?

I can vouch for the NOCO GB150. I have had one for several years and it holds a charge pretty well and does a surprisingly good job. Not cheap....I won mine in a raffle.

    Bald Tires

I've been doing what you call overlanding for over 55 years. My current Jeep is 37 years old and I have had it for almost 25 years. I don't get out as much as I used to because of work but I still try every chance I get. I find I do a lot more overnighters or long day trips these days. I...
