Guest, we will be conducting site maintenance August 4th and some downtime is expected. At this time Rally Point and the Member Map will also become an app-only feature for long-term security and stability. A few days after this maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
So not sure how many are aware but we are currently into our 10th week travelling from Cyprus to the UK through Turkey and Europe over a 12 month period inWilson our 16 year old Land Rover and Lara our converted ex military trailer.
We have completed about 6500 miles, have replaced 1 blown...
We are currently touring Turkey as part of our year long Turkey and Europe Trip.
When we initially said part of our trip would be in Turkey we were met with comments of concern, warnings and general wariness by friends, colleagues and even overland people.
So let me put some things into...
We are now into our 4th week touring Turkey and wow what a place.
It's a big big country full of poor friendly people always offering a smile or a wave and a country steeped in high snow covered mountains, rich green valleys and history abounds everywhere you go going back almost 5000 years...
We are currently overlanding through Turkey and at present in Cappadocia.
2 days ago we noticed a lack of performance especially on hills and I noticed the turbo boost was not reaching full boost.
Quick check and found the intercooler was blown.
We reached out to Overland Anatolia who we have...
So we arrived back in Cyprus for a calm 8 days final preps before we start our trip.
We should have collected the Landy Wilson from the garage the day after we arrived but sadly that did not happen. We also had to contend with no mains water as the land lord had not paid his bill so the water...
An off-road trip through Paphos Forrest visiting Venetian Bridges, Venetian Aqua Ducts, abandoned villages and old monasteries.

So I put the trailer in as I wanted to weld some supports for an external 'dirty' box for BBQ coals, wood etc and the e ternary jerry can holder.
Also as I have changed from steel wheels (thinner) to alloy wheels (fatter) I needed the spare wheel brace extended.
I have some painting and touch up...
So after 8 years here in Cyprus this is my favorite picture of my Landy and dog Zak.
It was a day searching for Venetian Bridges and was taken in Paphos Forest. No roads all off road to get there and this picture for me says everything about getting out and exploring. It for me is the essence of...
Received a comment and some likes for my post here earlier "Almost Ready" when I notice in picture 2 what looks like a UFO.

Never saw it when we were there and the area we were practising driving with the trailer is not...
So it looks like I'm almost there withe the Trailer Preps.Still have to fit the Defender Registration on it but that is about it.
The Defender from my side is done, just needs the New steering box leak fixed which is under warranty and then it's done.
So today I took the Mrs out for a drive so...
I have heard different and opposing views / stories from various sources on what is and what is not required in different European countries when overlanding.
When you consider the EU Parliament make rules about how straight bananas have to be you would think they would look at unifying the...
So as we prep for our trip trying to get every little niggle / leak sorted I had known for some time our steering box had a slight leak but as it had been getting worse and our trip will be in excess of 12 months I wanted to get it sorted.
Wanting to do the right thing a brand new, not...
Today I spent a few hours stripping down my 10 year old Coleman Dual Fuel stove.
It's still running and cooks food as good as the day I bought it. So I enjoyed a cup of coffee on completion.
But this isn't that I am just lucky.
It's because periodically I strip it, clean it, check it over...
Ok guys a question for some of you more experienced out there.
We are about to depart (April) on a 12 month trip around Turkey and Europe with our Defender 90 and converted ex military trailer.
I'm trying to finalise the tools I want to take. Clearly I do not intend to do a complete rebuild on...
So the new tyres were installed this morning along with the EU number plates.
Ticking off jobs everyday as we progress towards the leaving date of the 4th April.
Friday our belongings get picked up for shipping from Cyprus to the UK our final destination next year.
