I'm just gonna mention the quick "bad" ones that popped up from this past week's trail ride.
Bad: It's somewhat permanent. My RTT sits on top of removable crossbar, so 4x15mm bolts accessible by normal size hands. But it is heavy and big enough to remove between trips. I rather not have it...
Cool rig. That looks like spyder ohv trail.
Wave when you see a black jeep with an RTT, that is most likely me. I'm here in farmington.

So on my way back with my 2 kids, from an epic trail ride up here in MN north woods with the local overland group, i asked my GPS to route me to Go Home instead of stopping by Duluth. So it did it's thing, recalculating... and found me a new route. Great! I missed the turn as it was pretty...
oh yeah, the annex is really bulky. We decided we're only bringing it for winter camping.
Also true on the overhang, it adds more crap to tuck in but after few uses you'll figure it out. The only thing i hate now is trying to handle the zipper without getting snagged while i'm working it on...
Sweet. @Ace_Taco sorry for the thread jack, feel free to use the route.
@Daniel Etter I'll PM you once we get things get solid. Would be great if we can do a meet up along the trail if your time allows. As mentioned in my other thread, i will be on a Jeep Wrangler and a buddy (who can't...
Note that the vinyl cover loosens up once broken in which gives you more allowance to not having the tent tightly closed. Besides you dont want to stress out the joints too much tying to ratchet it down.

I actually put on air bags on mine to support the stock (soft) suspension for our trips. Primary helps in the long distance driving keeping the headlights down and geometry of the truck (aero and weight loading).
If you've seen a lot of classig overland rigs, none look like a rock crawler...
So far we got 3 pillows, comforter and fleece. I need another pillow and looks like it will work. You will need to even it out and make sure you got room at the end where the tent tucks in.
I also used a compression bag and then just put it on top between the vinyl cover and the folded tent...
When are your dates? We plan to be starting our trail ride on the 15th from Sturgis (Camp 5 Trailhead) down to Mt Rushmore. We're doing easy trails for the most part, crossing
I will be with my family and hopefully another rig with his family. We'll be dispersed camping as well.
would be...
What brand is that basic setup? You may have a decent setup already. It is not the height you need to worry about but whether the coils are sprung properly for load you will be carrying.

Awesome, this is what i am looking for. I do have all the public maps and have some trail route ideas laid out based on the MVUMs. We can always turn around but it would be nice to know ahead of time if we can pass thru the trails so we don't break our schedule, the kids need to see Mt...
Sucks!
My shovel is easy to steal. It's a cheapo but we got history so i'd feel bad.
I did have to switch from soft to hardtop on the jeep for the next trip since i will be leaving the jeep in a lot overnight. That wont stop them but at least they'll make a scene doing it.

We're heading out to Blackhills in 2 weeks and the plan is to navigate from Camp 5 area down to Custer. We're a JKUR (typical overland load) and a stock LC200, it's family overlanding trip so no testosterone crawling here.
I'd like to know if we are going to be fine on Camp 5 rd. The LC...
As long as you can't stop staring back at your own truck on your way to work, grocery store, mall, and jn your garage, then you'll know you picked the right one. Congrats that's a nice rig, coming from a jeep owner.

I am happy with TuffStuff, especially for the budget minded. It comes with annex which as mentioned is great for inclement/cold weather paired with MrHeater. I really haven't seen any notable quality deficiency given the price difference to the well known brands.
