You could also issue "Ribbons of Shame" for each time your vehicle needed to be winched by a vehicle of another brand.
All kidding aside wouldn't the Jeep driver who drives the same trail be deserving of a higher level badge as they accomplished the same journey in a vehicle that was more...
I was out there on Monday. It is open and people are setting up camp there however BLM outdoor fire restrictions are still in effect for all sources of fire including open camp stoves. Folks with kitchens in their campers or RV's should have no issue but everyone else will need to pickup pizza...
Finally completed my Rhino Rack install after a couple of days. Sort of like the most complicated IKEA furniture build with twice the hassle and four times as many parts.
I have a Pioneer Rack on my JLUR. The height from the top of the roof (at the side of the Jeep) to the top of the rack is 3.75”. I have the low-profile legs. I also have the perimeter rails as well which are 2.5” tall and raise the total rack height to 6.25” above the roof height measured...
I have to agree with everyone here that Mountain House in general is noticeably better than most of the other brands.
Another option is ramen dishes paired with packaged dry foods close cousin, canned food. Kirkland brand canned pre-cooked roast beef was the greatest thing ever with ramen but I...
I’m in the same boat as I just got a Pioneer Rack as well. If you had a full length rack you could run the wiring in between the windshield by loosening the window bolts and leaning it in to run the wiring behind the windshield frame and then closing it back up. Unfortunately with the Rhino...
Thanks for the good recommendations. I’m going to try a NRS bag first and see how that works with the stuff I have and then go from there to see how many other bags I’ll need. I would like for the bags to be a manageable size but also to keep the number of bags to a minimum.
Looks like the only two options so far for a somewhat long bag at 42” are a couple of dry bags from NRS.
Extra Long Dry Bag
Outfitter Dry Bag
There seem to be a lot more dry bag and rugged duffel bag options that are 36” or shorter in length. Perhaps I need to replace my old chairs with a...
I would like to see what recommendations are out there for larger size bags that are weatherproof (water and dust) for roof rack use. These would be for large but relatively light items such as camp chairs and tables, sleeping cots and pads, sleeping bags, etc. The camp furniture items I have...
Has <insert hobby here> become elitist? I think any hobby whether it be overlanding, stamp collecting, woodworking, fishing, hunting, photography, or so on will have participants across various income levels and thus spending will be related accordingly. Is that elitist or just people with...
I have heard that a couple of sprays of ammonia on the ice chest or other food storage box acts as an effective bear deterrent. Has anyone done this on a regular basis and found this to be true?
As a JLUR owner since the beginning of the year I had not experienced steering issues other than to say that there is a slight deadspot on center vs. other vehicles that you have to get used to. Sort of reminds me of the "floaty" feeling I would get on the highway with my '73 Ford Torino many...
