Our, And Your, Opinions On Some Popular Overlanding Gear

Always love your videos and the raw, honesty, of them. We find that each time we go out, we see what we need to get, or leave, for the next trip to be better. It's an evolving issue as a traveler we just have to deal with. You're not wrong in your humble opinions and I like how you admit that's...

Fridge Sizes - Let me see yours!

Nothing says beach camping like some ice pops out of our Dometic CFX75DZW. We set the smaller side to -8 and the larger one to 36 for food and beverages.

What is the Quintessential Camp Food?

We almost always do some sort of protein, steak, chops or smoked sausages with green beans and potatoes in cast iron pan. Hearty and hot before bed time. Sleep like a bear.

Where do you go when summer hits the Southeast

True. One of my best friends lives upstate NY in Moravia. Beautiful country up there. I may see if he's down to go a little more remote than his normal RV camp grounds. Hope you enjoy your summer. Thanks for the idea.

Where do you go when summer hits the Southeast

Southeastern Overlanders, Where do you all head to when the Temps climb here in the Southeast. We're located in the foothills of NC and when that summer humidity sets in... Lawwwwd. It is just too unpleasant for tent camping here. We are thinking of making a run back to GWNF in VA/WV soon, but...

How are you guys powering your fridge in the back of SUV?

We have a Dometic CFX75DZW and I used 8gauge wire and ran it from the Blue Sea Fuse block (used 7.5amp fuse) installed for accessories, at battery, through firewall and then along the interior. I removed the kick panel and kick trim pieces along driver side, and trim across the rear cargo at...

    Camp Photos!

This was Cape Lookout 2 weeks ago. While quite windy, up to 30mph, the Gazelles did great. The ShiftPod is a beast and you wouldn't even know the wind was blowing while inside.

    Cookware that stows well?

We love our MSR gear. It's designed around backpacking. Everything stores inside itself like Nesting Dolls. AMAZING products!

What kind of knives do you carry?

I have an esee for about any occasion. Started out with a class at expo east in 2017 with Patrick Rollins and just fell in love with the brand. First purchase was a PR4 in thanks to Patrick for his lessons and introduction into the world of Esee. That snowballed into an obsession, haha. I carry...

We usual go either the second or third week in May. We will be there May 13th-16 this year Portsmouth Island or South Core Banks? The missus and I may be on PI around that time. If you see a black Colorado, stop by for a cold one. We'll be on the SCB near the bathroom exit to Lighthouse. We...

    NC ROLL CALL

Linville is beautiful. Run Old Hwy 105, if you haven't yet. There are also a ton of forest roads you can take as well. We spent hours rollin through the wilderness. So many beautiful, natural, water sites and wildlife. Had a black bear run out in front of us on one of the roads. Pucker moment!

Haven't had to do anything to ours yet. Spent 2 days in straight downpour and didn't have any water issues inside. I have heard of some sayin they used a treatment though. Just haven't felt the need to.

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

We set off to find deeper snow for sledding. Our 3 year old LOVES snow and sledding was all she talked about. Well, as many of us were, we woke up to be highly disappointed, with the NC failed weather prediction. 3rd time in a row we've been forecast 3-6" and got zero. Thankfully, Boone and...
