I'm firmly in the pro-trailer camp, though there are downsides
1- grab and go is great, for weekend trips or bugging out
2. not having to break camp if you need your vehicle on a trail or to go somewhere
3. much more space and weight budget - leaves room in the tow vehicle for friends and...
hey btw, what are pros/cons of WABDR vs this path? Overland Routes | Pacific Crest: Washington - Expedition Portal
seems like they 90% overlap til you get close to winthrop, then instead of going north to CA you take a hard left through cascades to bellingham.
thanks for the offer! I'm going to do my best to take you up on it! (especially if gas prices remain low this summer. it's 2400 mi one way from me to Bridge of the gods, so $1000 in diesel just to get there and back) (i have driven to WA (via NM, CO, UT) and back last year and two years...
thanks! i appreciate the info. I'm in TN and with the virus stuff and work, I'm not sure about timing, but I was actually planning to do the trail sometime this summer. I'll try to catch another group later as exploring, campfires and cooking are always better with groups. I wasn't even...
thanks! I've been wanting to try this route. i have a 3/4 ton diesel and an 11' trailer. doesn't turn on a dime, but hills are fine. going with a group would be awesome.
i have a trailer with 3x 102ah batteries that need to be replaced. i'm thinking about ONE 300ah lithium battery. it's really expensive, so i have questions for those who have done similar.
1. is it true that 2000 recharge cycles means the battery is a good investment? i mean, did you...
hands down, LUCI

get the white 2.0 ones. inflatable so they pack down. light is the right intensity. not too bright or too dim. 3 settings plus a strobe. on the medium setting it pretty much goes all night from normal day of sun.
several of us are at the french broad river campground. it's a great spot. not sure how much availability they have. but if you're looking for a place to hang out until the expo campground opens, come on over
Well there's not a lot of beef jerky and dream catchers. I enjoyed walking around for a day talking to all the exhibitors and playing with their toys. So yeah. I think there are some things but it's mostly that. I don't know what the 3 day is like
imho, wandering around the exhibitors for a few hours saturday is a lot like an expensive gun show. the full experience pass would only be worth it if you signed up early and got all the classes you wanted. but 3 full days of classes at that price is a bargain
are there community fire pits?
i'll be in a truck pulling an imagine trailvan. truck is fairly long. 21' i think. trailer is under 13'
it has a flip out bed on the side and a canopy on the other side and rear, so 20' wide would be nice, but I'm not sure how cramped everyone is going to be...
Given that you
- are living out of your rig for weeks/months
- are getting dusty/muddy every day with outdoor activities
- have very limited space
how do you clean living spaces?
with what? dry? chemicals? where do you store the chemicals so they don't leak everywhere? what do you do with...
i have a good winch already. (warn 16.5k) and long handled shovel and quite a bit of basic recovery it. however, i was advised by a few that the weight on my truck (9800 lbs) would probably break the maxtrax. perhaps that's not true. i don't know.
definitely open to advice. was just...
