After getting home from work I basically threw gear at the jeep until I though I had everything. Hut the road for about 4 hours and rolled into camp around 11pm. A few of my buddies had already set up camp so I found a patch of ground, threw the tent up quick and went to the fire to have a quick...
Well I managed to get away with some friend this weekend and do some Wheeling. Jeep has been working great and went through everything I pointed it at! Kept up to my buddy's rig with tons, coiloverd and 40s lol.
It's always good to know how to fix or patch a rig back together to get off the trail. I have been places and met people under that circumstance alone. The rig in the picture, I had never me the owner before, he came up and obstacle with too much wheel spin and the driver's front tire grabbed...
A well taken care of vehicle should see at least double that milage. I lived in an old blazer for a while right outta high school. Bought it for a couple grand with 320k km on the odometer and I got rid of if with 480 on the odometer because the rear axle blew apart after too much abuse and I...
My daily/light duty rig I bought new, my crawler/camper I bought with 134k km. It was my daily at the time of purchase but with the increase of fuel costs over the years it was cheaper for me to buy a second vehicle, insure it and make the payments, than it was to continue to drive that rig...
More snow the better. A lot of people seem to substitute 4x4 for common sense is basically what I'm getting at. I'm in the snowmelt too lol. Canadian side lol
In a broad sense offroad yes, but I see too many people thinking that their bald tires on a 4x4 will stop them on an icy road when they slam on the brakes lol.
I can't even find a picture with stock wheels and tires. But I bought this thing 8 year ago to get me into more remote areas for camping.
As these go, I got into rock crawling as well so it has become sort of dual sport rig.
Lucky for me I know a lot of people in the industry and had a lot of...
Typically 4hi for anything off pavement is OK, and 4lo if you need the lower range from the t-case for obstacles.
Typically on a trail, if it's not a technical section I will pop into 4hi to make up some time to teg to camp, but as soon as I see an obstacle I am back in 4lo. If I am...
I have a pair of smittybilt boards but they don't support weight well. I have considered building metal ramps to slide onto my roof rack. But I have a long list of projects to tackle before getting to that point. lol
Daily is a compass trailhawk. Built rig is a tj unlimited on 37s, lockers, etc. Lol . Bit of a change but unnecessary for most terrain. I tend to use it for solo trips into back country. Drove out to crag lake last year with it. I'm still trying to find spots for the smaller vehicle to go.
I would love to try the same thing. Any hints? I took my jeep up around d the Ottawa Valley for the first time last summer and really enjoyed it, unfortunately it's too heavily modified to fit the whole family and would have to run the route in my daily.
All the wall paper is down now and lucky for us, no major issues. We do have a couple of spits that the old glue just does not want to give up ... but other than that it's good for paint lol.
