    Compass trailhawk vs Cherokee trailhawk

It's got 17s but I wish they were smaller. How do you like the falkens? Looking at those for my next set.

    Coffee Set Ups

Lol ya if I'm out with my wife and kid I always have the stove but if I'm solo or with rock crawling buddy's and I'm out in the TJ I don't always bring it.

US Southwest Springtime in Death Valley

I miss death valley! I had a great time there a couple years back. My wife and I had a rented KIA that we toured around in for just under a week ( we stopped off at "hammer town" to watch the every man challenge of king of the hammers on our way to Joshua tree after during my 2 week vacation)...

    Coffee Set Ups

Plain old faithful Colman stove and a perculater. If I'm back country enough to not have the stove with me I just bring instant coffee.

    Compass trailhawk vs Cherokee trailhawk

No I plan to use the compass. Just more curious why there seems to be way more aftermarket for the Cherokee than the compass and there seems to be so few compasses built up for the task. I've been using the compass for about a year and a half now and have some things I want to add to it...

    Compass trailhawk vs Cherokee trailhawk

Holy! Year and a half is a hell of a wait. I knew the engines were a main difference in the 2 vehicles. Didn't realize the Cherokee had a rear locker. I didn't like the Cherokee when I looked at one and went for the compass ( price tag helped with that decision too). I though that other than...

    Compass trailhawk vs Cherokee trailhawk

I had a Patriot before the compass. used to get it into some pretty decent spots. Unfortunately that one was totaled and that's how I ended up with the Compass.

    Member Rides

I have a 06 TJ unlimited that has been built over quite a few years and is geared more for rock crawling but I have driven it in and out of the US ( while living just north of Toronto) and recently took a trip with 4WDrive magazine for their Camp Crawl segment in n August where we had to be self...

New to overland and need some direction.

only problem I have with Xterras ( I have never owned one but wheeled with some) is that the alternator is low on the engine and doesn't like deep mud or water. That being said the guy I know that wheels his and replaces alternators more frequently than oil, is used to driving a back halved...

    Compass trailhawk vs Cherokee trailhawk

Lol don't get me wrong a Grand Cherokee done up well is bad ass. But I own 3 vehicles a 1 has way more money into it than it should, and still the 3 of them don't even add up close to the sticker price of a Grand Cherokee lol

    Compass trailhawk vs Cherokee trailhawk

I'd rather a wrangler or gladiator but that's not really the question.

    Compass trailhawk vs Cherokee trailhawk

I am curious why there are so few compass builds and seems like a growing number of Cherokees. The have basically the same drivetrain ( Cherokee offers a larger motor but other than that almost identical it seems) and a slightly larger tire, but the compass actually has more storage capacity...

    Any older Jeep’s out there?

Been building and camping out of my 06 LJ for years. Now I have to find a way to fit a car seat in it as the family gets bigger lol

    Portable Hot Water

I've seen some made with copper pipe put over a fire as a "redneck/off grid water heater". I meant to try to build one fore my last trip but ran out of time.

    Trailworthy/Sleep inside?

I'm partial to Jeeps and have a LJ on 37s and Compass trailhawk and I have been toying with the idea of building into the back of the LJ. The trailhawk really isn't enough room for much and I'm only 5'9". I will likely ed up building some sort of camper into the back of the LJ at some point but...

Converting from rock crawler to overlander

I still haven't had a chance to tear I to my Jeep to fix a few wiring issues and set up my auxiliary power system. The video did get relaea for the event in August though so here it is if your interested.

    Essential Solo Overland Recovery Gear

With where you likely drive and the vehicle you drive you aren't as likely to need a winch because you are not doing and major water crossings, rock crawling or traveling through deep mud. That being said something that can be used as a winch such as a hi-lift may come in handy if there was a...

    Essential Solo Overland Recovery Gear

I did have my snatch blocks but there was nothing to snatch to. I actually did break the Jeep pretty bad. Both rear shocks bent and tore out of the body, the steering box seal blew from trying to overwork it, the rear locker wiring tore and the passenger front axle stub was hanging on my a...

    Essential Solo Overland Recovery Gear

My 2 cents, everyone knows that you shouldn't go out alone but some of us do anyway, myself included. what I bring with me/ what is equipped on my vehicle is: 1. a working winch ( I check my winch before and after a trail run to make sure it is working and the cable isn't bound up in itself.)...
