    Good beginner trails in Michigan

Not at the moment...but, there's some talk about getting a flag-football team together soon. Funny story, few years ago, was going to my nieces house for a house warming party. Her and her new husband both went to MSU. I'm walking through their kitchen and they have a MSU calendar on the...

    Good beginner trails in Michigan

Yeah, but you guys are driving Jeeps...so everything is difficult...(100% joking, but couldn't resist...lol) Glad you're finding interesting stuff. Usually get over to Kal area a couple times a year, and it was spotty to say the least where we went. But, all good. I've kind of moved away...

First time long-distance overland South Carolina to New Mexico

Great info, thank you. Was heading there last Sept. blind, but now you've got my eyes wide open!

    New to solo camping?

Yeah, Richard...always had a few phyiscal books while out and about. But, the ladies in the office bought me a Kindle for retirement gift, which at first l was like...l'll never use this...but l thanked them (l'm not a complete jerk...lol). I'm just old school and love the feel of an actual...

    New adventure upcoming: Trans Africa

Great report on what was the makings of a epic journey. Granted, it was cut short...it was still quite exciting to read about your preparation for a trip of such magnitude.

    Solo Overlanding

Did you chronicle your trip here? Would like to read it, if you did. Retired after being a diesel mechanic for 46 years, too. Maybe that's why we push pedals in our spare time...peace and quiet. Try to get 25/40 miles in each evening...well, weather permitting.

    Solo Overlanding

Yeah, after l posted that...figured you probably weren't trying for max speed with all that extra weight to control.

    Solo Overlanding

It's funny, you'd see the motorcycle overlanders on the Alcan, raining to beat the band...and l'd think...that must suck. Then l'd pass a couple folks on pedal bikes...all of a sudden, and just like that...the motorcycles didn't seem so bad.

    Solo Overlanding

Sick bike, did you ever feel like you needed another cog up front (smaller)?...and a taller gear? Sometimes, my diverge carbon just feels like l can never get the correct gearing with a 1X12...plus top speed is about 24mph. Would be nice to bump that up sometimes, when a tail wind or grade...

    Solo Overlanding

Interesting topic...and comments. To me, the biggest difference between a camping trip/4X4 outing and overlanding is...while overlanding...you have absolutely no schedule or itinerary. When l leave, typically, l have no idea, besides general area, of where l will end up that night/day, and...

    New to solo camping?

Not going to lie...out of all of the areas l've solo/primitive camped...Tar Hallow, Ohio was the one that kept me awake the most. And it wasn't the black bear that walked past me at camp, was fine with that...believe it was all of the burned out meth-lab-looking-trailers on the drive in...lol...

    New to solo camping?

Solo camp 99.9% of the time. Just returned a couple months ago from a 10,000 mile trip to the interior of Alaska, from southeast Michigan. Was gone five weeks, and was planning on being gone for another five or six weeks and was making my way towards Mexico...until my wife said she needed me...

Crappy world, really? This is not my findings after traveling throughout the US and Canada. Yeah, there are crappy areas...but the world? I disagree. Plus, in a recent study...99.9999999999 percent of the population said this planet was by far the nicest out of any other they'd lived on or...

And, if you do go to Ohio...stay away from any topics that concern football...lol.
