How do you get weather updates with no cell service?

A lot of GMRS radios also have weather channels and get great reception.

What to prioritize when buying recovery gear.

Ok... In order to not sound too repetitive, I will forgo listing all the items everyone else has. I use most of these in my own recovery gear (except the winch, that will be my next investment). However I would be amiss if I did not mention the most obvious item, common sense! Use that and you...

    Need help choosing tires

After some extreme research I went with the Nitto Trail Grapplers. They had a lot of the same features that most others have and had great reviews. I also found the on sale at Extreme Terrains website!

    Death Wobble Question

As a Wrangler owner I concur. This is normally caused by loose or worn components in the steering system. Not difficult to fix (or have fixed if you are not mechanically inclined). Once things are back in spec, you should not have any serious issues with DW.

    New member!

I have to agree! The travels and getting stuck are much less about the rig, and much more about the driver knowing what his/her rig can and cannot do. I find it funny when I see guys with expensive “upgrades” to their rigs getting pulled out of a mud bog, simply because they were over confident...

    Who's more annoying?

It is hard to truly appreciate the journey if you are in such a hurry... Just saying...

US Northwest Pacific Crest Overland Route (PCOR) - Oregon Segment

I have yet to figure out why riots and destruction seem to be acceptable to many people.

Running trails solo as an overlander

I was thinking about how to capture the great photos while transversing an obstacle , and am considering getting a drone with “follow me” capabilities to catch the perfect video clips. It’s a thought anyways!

I second that! Perhaps we could skip ahead to late fall when all the trees change color!

    Do You Carry Spare Parts?

I am all for the adventure, and like some challenging drives. I even like some technical driving obstacles. However I always remember that I also need my rig to get me back home and to the grocery. All that being said, I do my best to not break things, so other than a few repair kit items...

WAIT A MINUTE... There's a box? I did't know there was a box. Where is it and can I fit? :tongueclosed:

    Making Money with Overland Photography

As a software engineer I often get these types of questions asked about my profession. Since the answer is roughly the same, here are my thoughts. First thing to consider: Will making a living out of this allow me to still enjoy the activity? Often times folks start out enjoying an activity...

    What is Overlanding?

Nothing more dangerous (or humorous, depending on your viewpoint) than someone with tons of gear that they don't know how to use. I personally keep essentials that I need, or may use to help others, and drop the others. Besides the extra toys just cost weight, which means more fuel and less...

    What is Overlanding?

This is my main motivation... Whether the journey is a few days, weeks, or months; the main purpose of my treks is the journey! I outfit my rig to make it capable enough to take me places I would not have been able to see otherwise, but not being a rich man I cannot got crazy overboard with...

    GMRS info request

Never fear... If any of us had all the answers, we would own everything! We all have much to learn. In fact, the older I get, the more I realize I still have to learn. The MXT275 is a highly rated unit and should serve you well!

    Finding trails in Indiana

There are several good trails in IN. Interlake has some great views and a few different type of trails, depending on your driving pleasure! Brown County also has some great places to explore.
