Would you expect snow in late-November? It'll probably be pretty cold at night then, but wouldn't affect the drive.

Are you driving up on the morning of the 27th, or are you staying in a hotel locally (Needles) Friday night? I may be able to get to the area on Friday evening - I'm coming from NorCal. I assume that you're running the trail East to West?

One can camp directly on the beach (at Usal Beach), or in the brushes just inside of the sand. For disbursed camping further north and along the trail, call the visitor center that I described in my writeup below in a different thread...

Are you doing this run annually? My truck's not up to it this year, but I hope to join up next year - from northern California. Have fun and post some pics afterwards!

There are trails for every skill level at Hollister - green, blue, red. You should be fine on blue (moderate), but I'd recommend that you have some skid-plates underneath.

I also run both Ham and CB, depending on whom I run with. CB's ok for close-range, but Ham is awesome in every way - signal clarity and distance (thanks to repeaters). I likewise studied for the Ham test on my own and online, and passed the Technician test about 10 days later, at a local test site.
